To start off with.

Remington 700 SPS Varmint

Mcrees Precision Chassis. using the 10 round mag.

Here is what the loaded rounds look like in the mag.

When they are to the back of the mag they feed just fine. But after a shot they move forward and will not feed. They are going under the feed ramp. Is it a dumb Idea to trim a little bit off the feed ramp? It seems they are going under about half the gap of what you see between the tip of the bullet and the mag in the pictures above.

I dont really want to mess with the seating depth as they are shooting GREAT

Seating the bullets deeper won't solve the problem if the rounds shift foreward slightly under recoil.
Just grind a little round notch dead center to allow the tip of the bullet to clear the lip of the opening in the receiver.
This will not affect function if the receiver is ever used again with a two position feed magazine system.
FWIW, Surgeon custom actions have a little cut like the one I described.

I had feeding issues with mine with just a small notch (1/4 endmill plunged). The bullet would simetimes catch on either sides of it if I was running the bolt quickly. Had to open it up a bit more...

I trimmed my surgeon for my 6mm crusader so I could get as much length as my mags would allow. Works just fine, think I took an extra 6 thou out. Not a lot, just enough.

Clane,
You need to stop shooting that rifle immediately.
Smithsonian called.
They want to build an exhibit with the most accurate Remington rifle ever built.
I gave them your phone number.
