I'd say they are in thier prime as bayonet jockeys.
The fellow on the far right seems to be sporting a bit of a scar on his left mitt!

Those guys did'nt waste much time shooting. Get in close quick and let them feel the bayonet.
Troops will stand up to musket and artillery fire for a long time but it takes incrediable discipline to hold formation in the face of the rifle mounted bayonet and those eyes!

Yes, definatly Enfield nosecaps on the rifles.
Also, as for the eyes... I think photographers would touch up the eyes in portrats from that time period. Perhaps someone with historical knowledge of photography can jump in on this one, as I'm no expert.

Sharpe's 95th were the, 95th (Rifle) Regiment of Foot 1800 to 1966, now The Royal Green Jackets. These fellows were from the 95th Regiment of Foot 1823 to 1881, now the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment. Confusing no?
Here is another resolute fellow, a corporal from what looks like, 28th Regiment of Foot, 1694 to 1881. The Gloucestershire Regiment (The Glorious Glosters) 1881 to 1994, now The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment
