So tired of waiting for the weather to get nicer and the outdoor ranges to become accessible (to a car), I headed out to Phoenix indoor range for some quality time with some pistols.
Took my GP100 Mk6 (the STI GP6's forerunner), the trusty Norc 1911A1 and the newest member of the stable a Llama Super Comanche 44MAG I scored off the EE.
The GP100 never fails to impress me, the bullets fly to where I point the barrel. Something that I usually fail at with a Glock.
All questionable political practices aside, the Norinco 1911A1 just plain works. Nothing fancy but it makes me smile every-time.
Now time for the big boy
The opinions on Llama revolvers varies widely from what I've read. Some say they are complete junk and to be avoided except as paper weights. Others stated they were OK for a cheap revolver. The only thing positive people had to say was about the Super Comanche. A well made unit that was a bit of a sleeper according to some.
Well, the deal on the EE was a good one and I figured what the hell. Always wanted a S&W Model 29 but couldn't afford it so here was a way to try one out since the Llama was basically a 29 knockoff/clone.
When the revolver arrived I was pleasently surprised. I was expecting a poor to OK fit/finish (I'm a pessimist at times) but a overall servicable revolver.
What I got was much better than that. While no one in their right mind would pick this over a proper S&W, it was much better than the internet reviews led me to believe.
The fit was very well done and the revolver was tight. The bluing was even better than expected. Now onto the range. I forgot how much bang the 44MAG was capable of
Loaded her up, quoted some "Dirty Harry" and managed a decent grouping without blowing up the revolver
I'll be needing more range time with this beauty as she's way better than I am right now.
Needless to say I'm pretty happy with the newest member of the stable and am looking forward to some more range time.
