The Good ol' Days!

All milsurps (or milspec) so this seemed like the place for this!
Just a few of the boys at TMSA back in 1980 (I think...Note the bell-bottoms!) for a day of blasting.
Not a pinned mag in the bunch:D  :p :D

That's pretty cool ... I kinda miss those days. It makes you wish you had a time machine.

Do you have any other pics?

I will dig some more out.:)

Here's one more for tonight
Setting up for the rolling tire shoot.
Can you say "Trust" boys and girls?

Kinda reminds me of the PLA 'human target stands'!

Is that 2nd pic in the area of the public range?

:)
It's not quite that bad!

He's going to roll the tire down the slope as a moving target.
It still required that everyone be on the same page however!

Rules were a little looser back then!:D

Lem Lemercier didn't shoot with our group.
We were just a group of military/ex military guys that used to go up there to shoot occasionally.
At the time there were no facilities (just a caretaker who never left his trailer) and no rules. We were always careful never to shoot anyone.
The only problem that we ever had was one guy who was winged by a ricochet. Just required a band-aid

Some of us had that sort of problem back in the mid-70's. There was an international conference called "Habitat" in Vancouver with lots of dignitaries attending. A few days before the conference started, totally by coincidence, a group of us went into Lever Arms and bought some toys. I got an HK93, one of the other guys bought a Valmet in .223, another got an AR15 (There were some others that I can't recall) and we also picked up a good pile of ammo for them. Next thing we knew we knew we were told that the RCMP Security Service (forerunner to CSIS) was snooping around asking questions about us and out new toys. It seems that they were reassured that we weren't a threat as they never enquired any further. :D

This reminds me of a rumor that UBC was real ticked off because some stray leads would sometimes land in their research field next door to the range. Rules were also quite lossy goosey since you were allowed to shoot glass bottles, water jugs & just about anything you wanted to set up as targets.

Kind of a sad state of affairs.....Back then lax gun control and virtually zero firearms 'offences/crime'.......................and now:mad:
