Hi all, A few weeks ago I started using a Maglula single stack adapter on my Magula mag loader for my Tripp 1911 9mm mags. Over the last week or so, my Tripp mags had problems dropping clear from the magwell. Initially it was one mag that was affected, sometimes, then more. Now several mags will never drop clear of the magwell when rounds remain in the magazine and I have to grab and pull the mag out. No big deal on a range trip, but during IPSC matches that is a problem. Has anyone else had similar problems when using the Maglula single stack adapter? I'm trying to eliminate it has a cause, but the more I think about it, the timing fits and it would compress the mag and feed lips with enough pressure to cause expansion and thus prevent a (partially) loaded mag from dropping free. I suppose it's possible but the steel in mags is pretty tough unless you're really ramming the mags into the loader. Get a micrometer or caliper and measure the mags to see if their dimensions are consistent.

I use a maglula to load double stack mags but to be honest I've never found them necessary to load any of my single stack mags.
 
Thanks, unfortunately I do not have any non-suspect mags to measure but if there are problems, each of the mags should measure differently. I'll ask Tripp for the proper dimensions.
 
A friend of mine was starting to have the same problems with his tripp mags. I don't think it's your maglula but just the mags getting out of shape from drops. Might need some vise squeezing.
 
Though the above comment may be true, I use the maglula without any adapter on the same mags and it works fine. Not sure why it would be required.

I havent come across the same problem as OP using this method.
 
Thanks for the input, much appreciated. I've used a Maglula with the Tripp mags for a while, but without the adapter. Picked it up last month and a few weeks later the problems started occurring. The idea about a vice squeeze is useful thanks, and measuring with calipers is definitely going to happen once I have a chance to pick up some. Thanks again everyone.
