Tristar Viper- anyone have real world experience?

I had a Raptor in 20 ga and it was terrible. Light strikes, ftf, fte, and twice in one round of trap it locked up solid and I had to leave the line to try to get it open. Beautiful gun but useless for trap unfortunately. The theory was that you needed to feed it 200 rounds of heavier field ammo to break it in so it would run target loads. There was literally none available at that time. I'm a big fan of Hatsan so if you see one, grab it.

Raptors are poor quality in my opinion

Sweet, do you get a chance to get out for wild Turkey where you are? Always wanted to give that a go! Enjoy that gobbler 👍😁
We have so many Turkeys here its crazy, we live on 22 acres in the forest, crown land all around, so yes this new gobbler will get some use

Well the wife’s new Viper arrived today and she is stoked to try out Trap with it. It’s a very nice looking shotgun, we will be giving it a run this weekend, so I should have review of it in the next few days! Thanks to all for the feedback on these shotguns, I’m hoping it’s a winner for her 😁IMG_2439.jpegIMG_2438.jpeg

So we got out with the Viper 20 and the wife gave it a run. Started with some #6 pheasant loads and it was kicking those shells out a good 10 feet lol, absolutely no problem cycling those at all. Gave some 7.5 target loads a run and about half of them were fte. Not too concerned as I was fully aware that it would probably need a break in period, so I will pick up a few more boxes of heavier loads and run them thru it to loosen it up a bit and I’m sure it will help with the target loads.
As far as the shotgun itself, the wife absolutely loves it, lights, swings well and just overall a very nice package for her. Got some very nice patterns with the target loads and the factory supplied extended Full choke, no concerns about using it for Trap, I think this thing is going to crush clays for her 👍
We will get back out this weekend and run a few more boxes thru it, but at this point I’m quite impressed with it and more importantly the wife likes it a lot.
As a side note, this model was only available in Canada in the “ youth” model, but one phone call to Tristar in the USA and they are shipping me a full size butt stock for it currently, absolutely fantastic to deal with.
