I'm going back to irons on my rifle but it's a shorty so I'll need a new front sight. Is there any advantage to going with a tritium front sight? It's not like I'll be using it at night but I may hunt with it and it can get fairly dark in the bush here on a fall day.

Thanks for the input guys.

Satain, you're saying go with the Smith tritium sight? I was looking at that but also considered the NM sight since I have a shorty and I'd read the NM post is a bit higher.

IME , a tritium rear sight on a shoulder gun is a useless waste of money and time. A tritium front is a different story. I have a 24/7 tritium bar on my house middy AR carbine right now . My wife's middie has a Trijicon front sight but it is getting a little dim after only 3 or 4 years. Could be that it sat in a warehouse too long. I plan to replace the old sight with 24/7 bar on it when I get around to it.

I don't now about you but the doctor screwed with my front gas block and slapped a front sight post adaptor on there and well...
Letz just say it's FREAKEN AWSOME!
No problems here to report next weekend I'll take some pic's of it at the range and let you decide for your self. Unless your in the lowermainland then PM me and you can try it for yourself to see if ya like it or not.
