If you're just looking for contrast try painting a white dot on the back side of the front sight as a test to see if it is enough for you.
If it is then a white dot or fiber sight would be my suggestion. The tritium sights glow in the dark but if you normally shoot in decent light then you won't see any advantage at all. A fiber sight, on the other hand, really lights up nicely in subdued but OK lighting conditions. I love the fiber front on my Shadow, It seems to just leap into the U on its own. I've tried some pistols with white dots and they are pretty nice but in my book second best to the fiber front and plain back.
