First of all the barrel is way too long, 12' less is more.

A cheap rail, to install a red dot sight and the obligatory flashlight, would ad a touch of class.

Finally the ugly buttstock has to go, replace it with an adjustable M4 style stock.

All those upgrades will make it a really classy rifle, a rifle that will make all heads turn as you arrive at the shooting range.

Actually I replaced the proper wood just now :)
I have to admit the rifle pointed a lot easier while in the sporter configuration and the extra cheeck contact made for a sturdy sight picture.

Reminds me of my old Honda 750F: I had a custom solo saddle: the Corbin "Gunfighter" that looked so cool, and then there was the tired old cracked vinyl stock seat... that was vastly more comfortable than the custom job.
I was younger then, you can guess which seat I used. :D

Just for the record... I like sporters. I do like military configured lee enfields but there is something so Canadian about a good sporter. Many a moose, deer, elk, bear and every other animal, has fallen to the mighty .303 British.

If anyone wants a fair condition No.1 Mk.3 sporter, there is one at the Shooting Edge right now for $600

Yup, $600.

Good God Man! Some people have no shame. On the lighter side again, OP...instead of chopping down the magazine flush as has been suggested, and adding a rail as has been suggested, why not kill two birds with one stone as it were? I think you should try to block off the mag to 4 or 5 rounds leaving the bottom of the magazine as a repository for an uber cool tacticool gazzillion watt combat lamp. Think about it, a hole saw to the front face of the mag, bubba's ever present zip wheel to the sides to allow access to the switch. The whole works would be very handy for CQCB or even home defence {with the understanding that you have chopped the barrel}...and the pocketfisherman could not be more correct, spray can bed liner on everything! looks cool and hides any zip wheel mistakes. :)

But for Ultimate Tacti-kool, it still needs a shoulder thing that goes UP.

Ultimate KOOL and not as gross as a fleshlight on the Picatinny rails.

Well, you know what the Antis say about us.......

.
It needs a cross-eyed Moose head hand carved into the butt stock using a Bubba Scout knife!

I'm waiting to see what the "Tanker" version looks like.

Wait a minute! I thought you guys were SERIOUS!

When I posted the above reply in Post #12, I did not realize that some misguided people here were not taking this with the proper respect and dignity of which it deserves. The following pictures are examples of what can be done with an original milsurp rifle - using a bit of time and effort.

After all, this is a fine example of true Canadian Folk Art, and if found in one of those Antique Stores on a plain piece of wood, it would certainly command a respectable sum of money. In this case, it should be worth even more, as it is carved on genuine walnut, using a 1905 Ross stock as a medium of expression.

buffdog: Nice moose....????? :confused:Could you arrange to get some of my rifles done up? I think I would start with my two 1908 Brazil rifles. :p

Damn, This thread wants me to lop off about 10 inches off my barrel.I think I will put on a pistol grip and maybe a green laser,Probably the most cool 1905 Ross ever.
