Probably illegal as it looks way too scary on the end of a rifle to me and most other Canadians. Is that thing illegal to own in Canada? Because i know that we could buy Enfield lunching cup for a while but i cant find info on tromblon vb.
The Enfield grenade launching cup (discharging cup) is not prohibited by name in Canada, but it is effectively restricted or prohibited by its physical characteristics under the Firearms Prohibition regulations.
Legal Status and Restrictions
The classification of these cups typically falls under two main regulatory categories:
- Bore Diameter Prohibition: Federal regulations prohibit any firearm or device with a bore diameter of 20mm or greater. Since the
Lee Enfield launching cup is designed to hold grenades (such as the Mills bomb) that exceed 20mm, it is often considered a prohibited device by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) under this "catch-all" rule.- Import Restrictions: Even if an item is considered a "relic" or manufactured before 1945, importing them from the United States is difficult as many US retailers will not ship these components to Canada due to export laws and Canadian customs regulations.
- Lee Enfield Rifles: While the launching cup accessory faces these restrictions, the Lee Enfield No. 4 and No. 1 Mk III rifles themselves remain legal and non-restricted in Canada for hunting and sport shooting. They were notably excluded from the major "assault-style" firearm bans of 2020 and 2024.
- Grenade launchers: Are prohibited in Canada under regulations enacted in May 2020, which banned Grenade launchers by name. These weapons are classified as prohibited assault-style firearms, and an amnesty period for current owners is in effect to facilitate, deactivate, or turn them in for compensation.
Thing is that i want to Buy one from France/ Belgium but im a bit worried about what custom Will said.... Ill do the parallele with a silencer wich is a prohibited device. I just want to make sure that a tromblon vb is not a prohibited device before facing some stupid chargesNo, it's a metal cup, it has no components like a breech trigger mech or anything, it's not a firearm. I don't know what it is with people saying "probably illegal" without even checking, that kinda thing does not help anyone.
Edit: Modern grenade launchers like a M203s are a firearms, they were banned because of bore diameter.

I have Friends in France that would ship it to me!Customs is a whole other ball game. They interpret stuff as they will. You wouldn't get charged for it but it could get seized by an overzealous agent. Odds are the customs agent won't know what it is so I'd ask the seller to fill out the customs declaration with the most basic and neutral description to avoid unecessary scrutiny (metal cup, tenis ball launcher, muzzle adaptor, spigot adaptor...). Remember we're talking about a metal cup here there is literaly no components to this thing, it has nothing to do with a silencer. Same as any spigot launcher or discharging cup it's just another piece of metal but according to CBSA it's technically a firearm part. If specifically identified as such on the customs declaration the package WILL BE opened and inspected and hang out at customs for months on end before being released.
That being said I doubt the sellers in France or Belgium will accept to send it internationally.
I also recommend you call the CFP and ask, just so you feel confident in the information provided. I've done so multiple times for opinions on antiques in the past.
Thanks sir! Ill take a look around! In the past, I have owned Tromblon VB's as well as inert Viven-Bessières projectiles.
Importation of inert ordinance is always sketchy, and I recommend against it.
However, the launchers are in Canada, but one has to be extremely patient. Most of the examples will be 1920's-30's era refurbished with black enamel paint, but you may be able to find an early blued example.
In the old days when forum WTB adds actually worked here on CGN, and on the milsurps forum, I would have suggested that avenue.
Nowadays, good luck.
