Trophy Room......Finally Finished......Last Pics

Awesome Marco Polo above, that is very near the top of my bucket list, but it has to wait lion is this year's big hunt. I lived in the DRC for a year (Kinshasa) and i have to ask three blue duikers and none at home ..... i guess i missed that story?

I'm finally done hanging mounts for now..................everything is up and here's what it looks like.

This is my sheep and goat wall that we finished this morning...........

Here's some corner shots trying to get as much overall as possible

Final short wall set up.....

The short wall will change when I get more of my outstanding mounts in..............The room has 72 mounts so far and I thought of another one I have elsewhere so that makes 20 more to come............ but I ain't done yet !!!!

Open to critiques now..........not gonna change anything but I will listen and maybe make changes as other critters show up............

Well KMG, it's like this............I hunted the Congo with a guy by the name of Gert Saaiman (spelling ?), a name you may recognize as being quite a notorious crook in RSA and Mozambique. I was unaware of this at the time and a friend had hunted with him 6 or 7 times and highly recommended him.
Anyway the first 2 blue duikers I shot with a shotgun coming to the call.........and of course the shot goes where you're looking and guess where I was looking........not much left to mount, excellent eating though. Third one I did much better and had a good cape and horns..........however along with my yellow back and Peiters duiker and my gorgeous 32" Bongo, he left them in the back of a truck in Brazzaville for 5 months where they rotted..........hence I have shot 3 blue duikers and have no mount to show for it.

The room looks great...despite the white! :) The short wall is nicely balanced now with the Blackbuck offsetting the Pronghorn. Looking forward to the finished product.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the new trophy room is going to be pretty full when the rest of those mounts are in place? What about future trophies? I imagine that a few Penguins could be squeezed in here and there; but where will the life-size Leopard Seal go?

jjohn........I have been perusing this situation and there is still one 1/2 wall that is completely empty, from the bar to the windows..........lots of floor space for penguins and other life mounts.........I have the wall space between the windows yet where I had my Dall sheep. I think my laying leopard will fit nicely under the big eland where the ships are now and I have room over my pool cue rack for a couple smaller African mounts like the puku and mtn reedbuck that are coming. The rest of the tiny ten can be made to work under the elephant pics where the other 6 are now, or possibly just under the back wall shelf.......just about a foot lower than where they are now. After that maybe I'll have to learn to like pedestal mounts..........You know an 8 sided column in the center of the room would hold a sh!t load of mounts as well...........

Kondor...........I have bears scattered all over my house plus there are 2 grizzly rugs and a hide as well as a wolf rug kinda balled up in the middle of the floor. I have a life mount grizzly coming and the biggest black bear I ever shot was stolen by a taxidermist and sold, I assume......I have shot dozens of bears, just not into getting them mounted.

I take it the Boss has a rule against hanging mounts in the living room, den, master bedroom, hall ways etc. ........ I always liked those two Dall sheep that seem to be giving each other the greasy eye when mounted side by each on the same wall.

C-FBMI, what is the real little guy - bottom row second from the right?

DG..........if you're talking about the ones below the pictures it is a Suni antelope..........one of the smallest of the tiny ten.

BK...........nope that's an immature NA wood bison bull...........3 year old, first bison I shot. He ain't much but I spent the money to get him mounted so he might as well hang out with the big boys.

Nope Pete not at all, in fact she said she wants a couple for the family room but I vetoed it cause I want all my mounts in my trophy room.

ah ok sorry was just curious if it was morals or didnt like them, very sorry to hear your prized black bear was stolen. Sadly I have yet to get a single mount, I got an antlerless deer my first time forgot to ask for the skull back from butcher. Hoping to do a skull mount or head mount of a whitetail or bear this year or next! I need to get one first ! LOL, but this looks awesome none the less!

I have to get a Grizly for a dance mask I'm starting soon it kind of like a rug Exept the head is going to be craved from wood and not mounted
