Trophy Room......Finally Finished......Last Pics

Terrific space, Douglas.... other than being in the woods, I imagine that is your "happy place." Great place to hang out with friends and swap stories.

Curios to know what that gizmoe ting-a-ma-jig is behind the bar counter
'bout dead center on the far wall.
Arff way t'ween them fethered terkies.

I see you decorated the wolf up for the Christmas season. The room looks good. As a constructive suggestion it needs some colour to tone down all that white. Then again maybe white is your thing and that's the look you were going for. I am also curious what the "thing-a-ma-jig" is behind the bar between the two terkies.??

That "THING-A-MA-JIG" behind the bar is a large carving with elephants and trees..........I'll have to take a better photo for y'all.........something the wife picked up somewhere for me.........

For all those who have suggested something other than the white, I did think of several murals I would have loved to have painted as a back drop. However I severely lack the talent and I could not find anyone interested in doing it for me...........so it is what it is......for now anyway.

Crash277.......I do not have a favorite one. There are some that are not too well done that I like the taxidermy less than others, but each has it's own allure and memories. Some of the smaller mounts have some of the most vivid and pleasant or brutal memories, some were easy and some were anything but easy. Some were close up shots and some were "Thank you God" shots, like I said every one has it's individual charm and memorial value to me, couldn't possibly pick one above the rest.

Well if you dont do murals...and decide to change the white (and I personally have no problem with white) you might want to look at Farrow&Ball paints...they are a little pricey but excellent in every way with a great depth! They also make one colour called 'Elephants Breath'! Seems like it was made just for you given your game of preference....I have often wondered if it smells like peanuts?

Thank heavin's it t'wern't a spewn rack.

Kayyy, gonna ask it agin.
This qwestshun for Douglas only.

"What do you use to mount the mounts to the wall"?

I know you yewsed plywood.
What goes between the two plywoods?
Mounting bracket on the mount and whut awn the wall?
Screw with a bigg'un warsher?
Big hook?
Pownd in a big headed nail?

'Looky, they're all hanging on #10X2" or #12X2" pan head screws........each mount has it's own metal mounting bracket put there by the taxidermist, theoretically strong enough to hold the mount up and somewhat near the center of gravity for hanging. This is designed to hang from a single screw (no washer required if one uses pan head screws and not wood screws) and does so quite well as long as that screw has the ability to hold the weight and mechanical leverage of the mount and not pull out of the wall.......hence the 5/8" plywood behind the drywall. I tugged on each of the bigger ones after hanging and they all seemed quite solid, now a 7 point earthquake might prove differently but as is, they seem to be quite secure.

Thanks Douglas.
I'm on the right track then.
Bit over kill for what I use.
#14 wood screw, bigg'un warsher and finding a studdly.
Need to mount Ol` Bullwinkle awn a new wall in mia casa nova.
Me pense heez tired oh looky'in at the sea-ling.

Awwsum work on your play room.
Hope to see it in 3d sometime soon.

Wow...great collection!!! No trophy mule deer in there?

Nope scott, never took one worthy of the taxidermy bill. Also living 35 years in the Yukon where they do not roam in huntable numbers means that I have never had the opportunity to really hunt for a good trophy. Where you guys down south have numerous good WT and mulies on your walls, I have Dall sheep and caribou, our most prolific trophy animals to hunt in the Yukon.
