I don't compete in shooting but I've got a number of trophies and plaques from hunting contests.

My favorite ones are small wooden plaques with a small plate stating my name, species and year and with a dummy cartridge recessed into the plaque (and glued in place)

In this case it's a rifle cartridge, but you could do anything appropriate, like 9mm or 45ACp or something for Ipsc. Hang them on the wall of your shop.

Trophies usually get pitched after awhile.

For big matches with fancy trophies I keep them on the mantel for a couple years. Plaques go on display until a newer one comes along then into a box they go. I actually prefer useful prizes nowadays over plaques. But I know some people really like wall hangers.

Usefull would be, good, as much as i like wall hangers, what kind of usefull Prizes do you like to see, i've only ever seen trophies and cash.

gift certificates for stores or product. new belts, holsters (these can be traded by winners if it's not one they need usually), mag pouches (same deal), eye and ear pro (good stuff not Cambodian tire). bullets, primers, etc.
A nice certificate instead of a trophy or plaque works better IMHO. I can file those in a nice binder. Then just do a random prize table, or if people prefer, prize table by order of finish.

I find it hard to believe I am the only one that sleeps with them under my pillow!

this one's on the nightstand,,,,

that is freakin cool. But I would never, ever expect something like that from a level II or even small Level III. it would bankrupt the match director.
I really liked the copper plate IPSC targets that Sheldon made for a few BC matches. I can take them off the stand and hang them on my wall and they look cool. Big fancy glass ones are nice for the mantel for a bit. I know my skunks appreciated the blankets that Nick and Marcy gave out one year.

I moved about 18 months ago and my "I like me" wall ended up getting boxed up and ended under the stairs. I used to love my daughters showing their new boyfriends around the house for the first time. The first room normally was my "man cave", after seeing the 40 plus plaques on the wall I generally got a different attitude from the young man!

Actually they are cheaper then you think ....and i used a picture of the burner to get that one made...would you believe around $35
