Trouble fitting receiver to Evolution stock

1) I can't get the receiver to go rearward enough in an Evolution stock to line up the receiver holddown screw. Its not out by much, but I don't want to force the screw and cross thread it. I can't see what's holding it up. Something down low. There's a fair gap between the upper part of the receiver and the Evo stock that you can look down.

2) There seems to be a fitting screw at the rear of the receiver that lines up with the trigger group. I've backed this off for now. What are the instructions for setting it. I am guessing it is to minimize play and the rear of the receiver.

I ended up removing some metal from around the bottom edge of the corners of the receiver. I used a thin strip of paper and it seems to be pinched in that area. That allowed it to move back enough to line up the bolt. On question #2, I've tightened down the set screw enough that the rear of the receiver doesn't rise when you tighten the one receiver screw.
