Trouble priming hornady 1x fired .223 brass

Wondering if anyone has ran into issues with priming what I think is superformance ammo brass? I did some reloading on .223 for the first time. Some of the brass my brothers inlaws gave me would not prime. kept crushing the primer edges? Does hornady use a special or different primer for the superformance brass? My son was shooting varmint express and it seemed to prime just fine. Using cci small rifle primers the case on the superformance seems to have small rim around the primer pocket and the edge of the primers catch and either crush or just will not seat. Appreciate any info someone may have . I'm using a lee turret press with the primer seat in the ram.
 
The primer pockets are crimped. I haven't seen this in Hornady brass but lots military brass is like this. I've also processed crimped Federal commercial brass.

Use a primer pocket swager or if you're cheap like me, use your case neck chamfering tool to ream out the crimp. Just don't remove too much brass or you'll ruin the primer pocket.
 
Thank you for your replies, no worries I will just tell my brother inlaws to purchase the tool for me lol. Thank you for your quick replies. New something fishy was happening. Set all the brass aside when the primers wouldn't seat properly.

This way, you can't run the risk of removing too much, since to don't remove anything at all. Just pushes the crimp out to re-form the pocket.

Actually I have this tool & sometimes it will sometimes shear off a very fine ring of brass (the crimped section) from the primer pocket. Causes no issues, however.

The problem with a hand held primer pocket reamer is that unless you can hold it exactly perpendicular to the primer pocket (almost impossible to do) it can cut the pocket out of round. A better system is to use a reamer that mounts in a trimmer like a Lyman, Hornady or RCBS. They keep the reamer perpendicular so the primer pocket roundness is retained. I use a Lyman trimmer & have reamed several thousand crimped primer pockets with nary an issue. The Lyman cutter is not long enough to bottom out on the primer pocket so it doesn't affect primer seating depth which is critical to reliable primer ignition.
