Trouble zeroing in a Ruger Air Magnum

I bought a Ruger Air Magnum, it came with a scope, and bought some cheap Daisy pellets (.177 cal) and I'm having an impossible time trying to zero the scope in. If I try to zero it in at 30 yards, i get about a 3 foot group. Going for the center target on a 3' x 3' board and three shots in a row will drop pretty much anywhere on the board and sometimes miss the board altogether. Has anybody else had trouble with cheap pellets doing something like this, or is my new gun the problem, or is it more likely the cheap scope? I thought it was the scope but it seems pretty wildly inaccurate even with the fiber optic sites on it.

I would appreciate any input on this from anybody who's had a similar experience and how it was remedied.
Thanks

Sounds like a pellet problem, take a look; http://airgun-academy.pyramydair.com/blog/tag/ruger-air-magnum/ Light .177 pellets in fast guns don't always work-out so well. Have a look at D&L airgun in BC, great selection of ammo. Great people to deal with.

The scope my be suspect too, magnum springers are hard on scopes. Take a look at D&L's scope options too...but I'd start with the pellets.

check your scope mount screws, try it with the open sights if groups are better get another scope. if the groups are still crapy try heavier pellets. that is a HEAVY DUTY springer and will require a Lot of practice to master.

I have the Airhawk and 3 days later the scope was destroyed. It's pretty rough on scopes so get a strong airgun rated scope. I put a Leapers 3X9 and better one-piece scope mount on. The gun screws were also loosening and had to be blue loctited. Mine is liking a little heavier JSB Exact pellets a lot better than the CP lites. About a 1.5" group at 50yds so far. I may try a heavier pellet yet.
Good luck.

Firstly, Ruger Air Magnum is not an accurate rifle. Secondly, you must install an aftermarket solid scope space for the scope. The recoil of air rifle is very strong. The factory one is crap, it will loose up after a few shots.

Try heavier pellets. My father had to do this with his Gamo 1200. Works great, He also had to put a better scope and a scope block on it.

All the Ruger airgun are harsh and batter scopes. Also the mounting rail is insufficient...........internals are compatable with rws 34 so tuning kits are usually installed.Cheaper in the long run to buy quality first instead of as some call it ..."turd polishing"......Harold
