Trying to install my bm59 rear sight into my 2011 m305 shorty. If I install the rear sight aperture I can't get the elevation dial and gear to seat the gears with the aperture. If I take out the aperture, the elevation side will install, but then I can't get the aperture in with the gears.

I've done some googling and watched a coup,e of vids to try and self diagnose what is going on but I'm not having any luck.

I have had the same trouble installing BRAND NEW or NOS (new old stock) M1 Garand sights. They are so freaking new they needs lots of elbow grease and effort to get the fresh new threads to BITE. Keep at 'er. :D

I wish I was closer to sort this out. Frankly, what is hard is that all this installation cannot be described / read/ written. It's all installed by FEEL. Then again, that's all I know.

Any other experts around here chime in?

Cheers
Barney

I'll chime in, but won't call meself expert...

There is a little D shaped ring inside the windage knob that the elevation pinion flat needs to be lined up with.

I put everything but the windage knob together and then look inside this knob to identify where the flat is.

If you get it perfect, there will not be much effort to mate the parts.

Ok. I manned up and pinched harder. Sight is installed. Hahaha

I knew you could do it. Helps when you put down that purse and push harder. Ha ha ha ha I had this situation at the Jan 2013 Sudbury clinic. Nice guys... asked ME to install all of their NEW Italian imported NOS Garand sights!

Cheers and thanks for sharing,

Barney
