Whatcha' talkin' 'bout ! ? ! ? The Colt 1860 Army was the Glock of its day ! ! ! !
Yeah, it's a real shame that the Italian companies took this shortcut instead of dealing with the issue. It would be worth the extra $10 at the factory which translates to around $50 at the cash register for them to have gotten this rather basic and important point right in the first place.
I've actually got a pair of both Remington 58's and Uberti '60's. I plink with them a little but mostly enjoy rapid fire on a cowboy action stage creating big clouds of smoke that very effectively hide the darn targets from me....
They are different enough that I enjoy both pairs of them for the variety of the two styles.
It's an odd thing too, and I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But if I put a Remington, a Colt '60 and a Colt '73 side by side the '73 really does look small and more like a kid's toy that fell out of a box of Crackerjacks. Those earlier cap and ball guns just plain have a really classy look and a size that gives them a real PRESENCE ! ! ! !
The Remington design isn't 100% jam proof from the caps either. I've learned to roll my hand strongly to the side as I #### the gun for the next shot so the cap shards fall clear with either style of gun.
