TROY 102 308 sporter rifles

You feel that Stag makes a better product than Troy?

I have not owned either so always looking for opinions

If you order a 243 barrel is going to be a match barrel, so I believe that will be more accurate than a mass produced barrel from Troy. I was also comparing the cost of Stag upper vs a complete Troy rifle.

I think Troy will make a quality rifle.

If they have light profile barrels I'll probably get one just because. So sick of heavy profile barrels being the only option with the ar102/ar10 style rifles.

Just received my Stag 10 from Irunguns , light profile, Faxon pencil barrel, 20 inch , bare rifle just under 8 lb, amazing.

Exactly my thoughts: pre-order is not for me call me cheap (lol).

Been there done that before pay a good chuck for a rifle and begging for it on the forum to hope it will show up in the mail one day and hopefully it is up to your satisfaction is bit much.

Already past that stage that I must want this or I must own that besides everybody is right eventually they will be on EE six months later after it hits dealer's shelve for much less than those pay for their pre-orderes lol.

Troy and BCL are not working together. AR102 is a model of 308 rifle as is the BCL102 and the Troy 102.

We will have pictures shortly of a nice clean looking gun. Right now the test guns are beat up looking from testing, different colours etc. I didn't expect to have the FRT approved for another few weeks so I hadn't prepped all the pictures...I'm not posting pics of the test guns. Lots of other cool things are being worked on with Troy as well.

don't care so much about the FRT , certainly trust these folks if they say it exists. Be pretty silly to advertise stating it has an frt when it doesn't.
But why the CAD drawing?
Why no completed firearm picture. Leads one to believe these rifles have not even been manufactured yet.
Not trying to be a #### , these are perfectly suitable questions to have.
and I suppose my last question , considering the "102" in the firearm's name, is this a collaboration between BCL and Troy or an odd coincidence? If so it's kinda cool to see a Canadian and American company working hand in hand for the Canadian shooting sports market.

I've owned Troy products , mainly their M14 related items like the MCS chassis and muzzle devices. Top notch machining and finishes all around. Never owned any Troy AR products.
My Stag 10's are wonderful other than needing to swap out the factory mag release for an ambi to get all my mags to function 100%. Otherwise, machining, fitment and finish are on par with medium to higher end AR products that I have handled. From a builders point of view, these were my first large frame AR builds and they went together without a hitch and function with all the ammo I have tried so far. No reason to replace them with another product.
Gonna hold off for the small frame model and see how this all pans out.

I'm interested to see the 223 model. Could potentially kill the slr and modern sporter reciever sets if the Troy accepts most ar parts but your getting a whole rifle for slightly more than a stripped set.

Give us more info on the 223.

that makes perfect sense Ryan, thankyou for clearing that up.
I know the "102" and the CAD drawing have a few people wondering.
Some folks don't want anything to do with the nea/bcl products.
while the pre-order is not my thing, still gotta thank some of our dealers for putting these rifles in for FRT and subsequent import.
gonna tag along and see how it plays out.

Stag is supposedly coming out with one too in 5.56mm. That's why I'm holding on to my wallet. Just waiting to see who has the best rifle.

Even if your "50%" figure was true (it's not) The cost of ordering one of these Troy rifles isn't an expense that I would be worrying about losing resale value on. It's only $1800 or so. The resale value concern is a largely irrelevant to most shooters, we don't buy guns to resell them, we buy guns to shoot them.

Most people that go for the shiny new toy pay a premium compared to a year or two after the items hit the shelves, it's only a poor financial decision if you can't afford it or have to finance the purchase.

Hmmm I see a bunch of BCL102s going for 1000$ on the EE. Want to remind everyone what the pre-sale price was? 1699? 1799? 1899?

Good luck paying all those premiums for those shiny new toys, I shoot my guns and ammunition is a continuous expense. By making intelligent choices like waiting a year and buying the rifle used for 800$ less than you payed, or reselling guns I'm not using as often as I thought I would, I can afford more "toys" and ammunition than you all other factors being constant.

I'm not preaching, not sure why some of you are so offended. A lot of folks offended because I pointed out that 1+1=2. My comment was for those countless people who are jumping on this pre-order with their credit card ready to piss away months of interest because a picture of a CAD drawing got them triggered. We all know there will soon be a 100 page long thread demanding updates and ETAs on another pre-order they couldn't help but get in on! It's such a horrible process to watch.

What do you care if people want to spend there money on a pre-order? Obviously its better to get your cash earning interest in the bank, some people don't give 2 ####s though.

Judging by the amount of brain cells in the pre-order update threads, I don't believe everyone knows they have a choice. Some people think they will never get a rifle if they don't pre-order.

I only made the comment again here because my response was censored in the dealer forum. Which makes me think people need a slight reminder all the more...

What mag release did you go with?

I don't know LOL
I was going thru my parts bins and found one , installed it and it worked like a charm. I think I got it with a parts lot I purchased a couple years ago so no clue what brand it is.

Thats too bad. My current mag release doesn’t work properly i.e. mags drop out without even pressing the mag release. IMO the mag well should have been a little tighter but I have to work with what I have.

'All factors being constant" is your confusion. Some people buy stuff they can't afford on a credit card and make interest payments. Others buy stuff they can afford with a credit card, pay off the balance monthly, incur no interest charges and stack up points or other perks. Some people line up for the new Itelephone and pay a premium, and they know for a fact that if they wait a year they will pay less. Their money, their choice. How other people spend their money isn't something to get worked up about.

Troy and Stag are comparable in fit, finish and overall quality.

Like every AR type rifle out there, it really depends on the quality of individual components (barrel, trigger, etc.)

It begs the question of why the sellers have introduced a pre-order when you can readily get Stag rifles and receivers.

If you order a 243 barrel is going to be a match barrel, so I believe that will be more accurate than a mass produced barrel from Troy. I was also comparing the cost of Stag upper vs a complete Troy rifle.

Ah, got it, thanks guys.

Just need a barrel and handguard. Or if you can maybe get away with buying a barrel nut and swapping the handguard over every time if you want to save some money.

There is a free Cerakoting promotion at X-Caliber.

Getting there, I still need optics and a butt stock for my 308 build
