I just installed both a Troy ambi mag release and ambi safety in my wife's S&W 'Sport' model AR. As a 'righty', the ambi mag release is great as it offers the best of both worlds. Not so sure about the ambi-safety, however.
It comes with one lever the same size as the factory 'righty', but the other is reduced in size, requiring a very positive swipe to operate. Wearing gloves, you could fumble it. Or learn to operate it on the right side, like a 'lefty' has to do with the factory part.
The levers can go on either side, held in place with a detent you need a paper clip or small screwdriver to depress to remove or install the levers. Obviously, I put the larger lever on the right side for my lefty wife.
The unit was overly long for the width of the receiver, so I used a steel circlip on the left side to take up the slack. This put the lever on the right side a little further out from the receiver than the factory part, not a bad thing.
Operation is flawless, but in retrospect, I would have opted for one with the levers equal in size, even though they require Allen screws to secure. Yeah, I know, that's why Loctite was invented, but I kinda liked the Troy system with the detents.
