Troy BattleRail installation

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the midst of fitting a troy battle rail to a norc shorty - and I'm stuck.

I'm not sure what role the existing Barrel band plays (if any) once the Troy rail is installed.

I'm not able to find a Battlerail guide or manual anywhere; the closest I've come are the Troy MCS manuals.

They provide a bit of guidance - but not enough that I feel I know what I should be doing.

The M14 MCS Mod1 manual from M14.ca shows the complete removal of the stock barrel band.

The Troy M14 MCS manual shows's that the original barrel band is retained (not Mod 1)

Of the two - I think the Mod1 manual more closely resembles the Battlerail - though I'm not sure.

If I need to remove the original barrel band I'm not going anywhere fast until some castle nut pliers show up (on order).

Any pointers?

Battle Rail does replace stock barrel band

So - some Googling seems to imply that the Troy replaces the original barrel band. This means on the shorty that I'll need to remove my flash hider to get it off (or get it off with bolt cutters in a fit of rage if I'm unable to get the FH off).

Yup, you generally do away with the stock gas band plate with the troy set ups.
