I'm looking at giving my 10/22 a makeover and am looking at the Troy Industries tactical Chassis. Does anyone that has had or handled one have an opinions on it? Also I know it's major overkill but this is also my main small game and varmint rifle so if anyone has a weight on this that would be awesome. Currently I've got a hogue overmold stock on it and a 20" BB. Looking at finding a shorter Bull for it as well just to cut down on the weight.

A friend of mine has a 10/22 with this chassis. I think it's great, liked it much more than my sr-22 chassis. Felt better balanced and controllable in hand.

Sorry just realized its the sport not tactical he has, which I prefer. Don't see the need for the extra rails, other than adding weight.

Why do you want a bull barrel? Even short ones are quite heavy. That's like using a precision rifle for CQB, unless youre putting it into a tactical stock to shoot off the bench? Dlask makes stepped barrels and a 12.5" X .750" barrel too, far lighter than a bull barrel.

I don't mind the rifle having a bit of weight. just don't want it over 9lbs total. Being it is a full float setup in this chassis I can decide when I get it as I have a carbon tension standard taper barrel as well as a 20" BB on hand. I prefer to still hunt small game which means I can have shots anywhere from 10 yards out to well over 100 yards so long distance accuracy is a must.

I have considered the 12.5" barrel but without having the chassis in hand to measure the length of the handguard I won't order it

With a longer bull barrel it will be very unbalanced and front heavy. I speak from experience. Regarding accuracy, that is a byproduct of barrel quality rather than contour. Its good you mention the length cos now that I think about it I believe you need 14-15" to stick out past the forend on the Troy chassis. I'm thinking a Dlask 16.5" stepped contour barrel would work well, or for a bit more coin the Tacsol aluminum barrels are even lighter. Should be a nice rifle when its done!

yup i was wondering if the 12.5 with a flash hider or a fake suppresor would do the trick. I know they don't have any accuracy advantage but gotta have some extra "cool" factor and it'll keep the mess off the chassis..lol

I have a 16.5 barrel with comp mounted on my t22 sport. It's a custom I had joe at dlaskarms build for me that resulted in his "stepped" line of barrels. The balance is very good and over all the rifle still weighs less than a stock sr22.

Got any pics with that setup.. curious about how much the barrel goes past the handguard.
