Does any one have experience with the Troy Industries drop in rail, preferably in carbine length. Anyone putting them through hard use , please chime in, there are a few guys down here looking at them for use on C8's in the next deployment. I tried searching both here and on LightFighter, but no luck. These will be running the usual PAQ-4 , vert grips, etc. Input is greatly appreciated.
heres what were looking at

I had a Samson version on my C8 when I was overseas. Pretty much the same design. I do know there were guys using the Troy rail on my second tour in '08.
Pic of my gun in '06. I did use it with an M203 as well.

Why settle for either of those designs as neither free float? Get a Daniel Defense Omega rail, you don't have to alter the rifle but you get a true free floating rail.

I think the problem is, when going on tour, they dont like you to bring your own stuff.... you'll get jacked up for it.

My friend has a Leupold Mk IV 1.5-5 in an ADM QR mount, so he can take it off before he gets back to base, and put the elcan POS back on for looks.

Nobody in the field cares if you use your own stuff, but on the base the guys in charge are very strict...

I think the point of the Troy drop-in rail (in this case), is that you can put it on/off like a normal handguard so its easy to swap them out with normal ones before you get back to base.

Not completely sure on the DD Omega, but I think its got some screws to hold it together or something.

Ya the DD has 4 Allen head screws that lock it to the barrel nut and it's not meant to be takin off everynight but like I said it free floats, does not alter the rifle and you get a continuous top rail.

were looking at the troy right now because we may have a potential supplier for the rails.

Here is the 203 mounted on the same gun.

I ran a Redimag on it too. It was heavy, that is why I dropped the Shortdot, but I did carry it in my backpack though.
As for mods to the gun, we ran what worked. Nothing that was considered a permanent mod in the eyes of the wpn techs however.
I don't recall getting jacked up for anything I had mounted, but there were a few odd stares.

I have been looking at getting a rail and vertical fore grip for my flat-top Armalite M4 and have done some reading and research.

Honestly, the more I read the more confused I get as to which ones to try and acquire. However, I did come across the Troy drop in rail before finding this post.

So does anyone know if there is a dealer in Canada?

Also, a fore grip recommendation would be appreciated, I don't know whether the ones that are both a bi-pod and grip are any good.

Thanks.

I have the Troy rail on my MP15. Fit was great, nice and tight. It is really light and well made. I would take it to the sand box in a heart beat.
