Troy PAR + Geissele SSA-E = bolt catch problem

They said their triggers are designed for milspec guns and they are not familiar with the Troy.

I'm not trying to rub it in, but if you did a little research here you would have learned that the PAR does not work with many after market AR15 triggers like the Geissele you installed. The TriggerTech ones are probably your best choice ones for the PAR or an AR. In Geissele's defence, they make that trigger pack for the AR15 and not the PAR. They are not on the hook for it not working in a rifle it was not designed for.

He tried it out long enough ago he was probably one of the guinea pigs. It's a relatively new firearm and a pretty uncommon one, and it's been a process of elimination as to what works or not and why. Also, it's not like an AR-15 trigger suddenly becomes useless because it won't fit a certain gun. Just means he'll have to buy an AR to put it in. :p

The trigger will go in something else so not a big deal. More concerned with the light primer strikes i am getting.

Unfortunately for my liking I also had a uncomfortable high number of light primer strikes with my Troy PAR and Trigger Tech this past weekend. I am using CCI magnum larger rifle primers for this particular reload setup so this may be the culprit. More to come.

I even put an extra heavy hammer spring in with no improvement. Sounds like from reading some other threads just takes a while to break in with hard cycling.

Extra resistant from the firing pin spring and bolt lock on the hammer is the root cause for the TT15 light strikes.

Well that sucks! Makes sense, though. I wonder if Triggertech could supply a more powerful hammer spring to overcome the bolt lock? I was going to put a TT15 in my PAR. Not sure what to do now.

I put an extra heavy hammer spring in and and it didnt improve. Whether its related or not the only thing I got was a broken bolt catch...

I have my Trigger Tech unit back with them, and it will be interesting to see if they can solve the light strike issue. I have reinstalled the original unit and I noticed it delivers a much heavier strike than the TT unit. Which is a shame because the TT unit really was a joy to use, and increased the accuracy of the rifle.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Perfect, thanks.

Just an update on triggers: I put an ALG ACT trigger in mine with the heavier of the 2 hammer springs that it comes with. Works perfectly, no light primer strikes. It's not a Trigger Tech or Geissele but it's way nicer than stock.

TT customer service was faultless, I received a new unit, installed it and it is running fine

In the interim time I put a couple of hundred rounds through the PAR on the original trigger, I do get the sense that these rifles require a modest break in time.

The TT trigger is a great improvement over the stock, with noticeable improvements on accuracy. I am now hovering at MOA with handloads which I am happy with.

So they installed a stiffer hammer spring in it for you??

I put a a ALG ACT on my PAR308, love the trigger for the price, had some light strikes so i ordered a 3 pack of extra heavy hammer springs (wolf) from brownells and weighed the ALG and troy hammers...and the troy was heavier so I installed the heavier hammer with the super heavy hammer spring (with the ALG trigger and sear)...no more light strikes.

I also ran a 40 caliber plastic barrel brush with a wrap of j-cloth on it and heated up a stick of red jewelers rouge and wiped it on the j-cloth then ran the rod from the rear of the detached upper (with bolt carrier removed) and spun it in the chamber for a bit on a drill.......polished it up like a mirror......no more stuck cases :)

I had it on the EE for a bit, but after i did that stuff to it..i love it now...definitly a keeper
