Cycling some winchester .308 ammo, did result in damage to the bullet tips... Hmm.
Which kind of tip?
All semi-auto rifles will dent a lead soft-point in my experience. Hitting the feed ramp hard.
I unpacked mine tonight. Installed a CTR and Magpul pistol. I thought these were supposed to have the bcg with dual ejectors?
Whats the muzzle thread on these? I need to install...something other than a birdcage
Yeah those get a feedramp-flat everytime they load normally in a semi-auto. However it doesn't prevent 1moa grouping within 300m in my experience.
When hunting or anytime you unload-rechamber a cartridge a few times you may take care in the orientation you put the cartridge back in the magazine. After 3 chambering of such a pointed-soft-point bullet it can look like a tipped bullet.
Another approach would be to hand feed your first cartridge in the chamber. You want to hold your charging handle closer to diminish the odds of a slam-fire. But you must make sure the extractor tension doesn't prevent the bolt to go into battery. Remember that useless forward assist?
So it's a little tricky but the best way to keep your first shot with a symetrical soft-point. It's also quieter if you're already in your hunting zone.
Or stick with FMJ, HP and tipped bullets.
My take down pins are normal
Does that mean your rear pin sticks out enough to push without a tool/boney fingers? mine doesn't stick out at all and I hate it.
Nope, mine is the same lol
I saw somewhere some people had the pins incredibly tight
