Lee Valley does mail order very well, in my experience. Funny, I just was trying to buy some on the Birchwood Casey site yesterday and got pissed hey wouldn't ship to Canada.
FYI I was just talking to someone who was telling me the reason for the lack of supply of Tru Oil and the reason Birchwood Casey won't ship to Canada has to do with a change in government regulations regarding paint and solvents ingredients. Anyone hear anything about this?
Did you actually buy some there? I think you will find that Lee Valley USA only web site lists Tru-Oil in 8 oz. size but their Canadian site does not list it. I don't think it is available in Canada from Lee Valley. Some one said Wally World has it, but not in my city, I've been looking for it in Canada for 2 months. So far no go.
Red.
Maybe I shouldn't say this where the authorities are watching but I am an importer of branded consumer products, mostly American brands. No french on any of it. If we ship some into Quebec, we slap a label with a french translation on it. No problems in 30 years. Tru Oil would have no problem shipping into any province but Quebec if french was the issue.
I think that some of those who supply this type of product are just fed up with Canadian regulation. First there was the requirement to label in French as well as English that the product may be toxic if swallowed. Duh?? Those who were willing to comply with the labeling requirement were then told they must supply a list of ingredients or recipie. Selling to Canada is just crumbs compaired to the rest of their business.
