truck gun

Leverevolution stuff is spitzer if I remeber what I have read. Ok to use in levers as long as it is chambered instead of stuck in the mag tube. Planning to try that one out myself in my Marlin 336. Besides that-ever hear of reloading? I got loads of spitzers and a whack or 30cal and 30-30brass. Simple enough to do. Be slow working up a load but might be fun.

Hornady suggests that Leverrevolution ammo is safe to use in tube magazines due to the "soft" bullet tip. I have concerns about how soft this tip might be if used in cold conditions, and I wouldn't be loading it in my rifles for a January hunt. Recoil in a .30/30 probably isn't enough to create a problem, but it is in the .45/70. I also think that the amount of spring pressure against the rounds in the magazine is a factor that could be a safety issue in an out of spec rifle. As unlikely as it might be, a round firing in a tube magazine would have life altering consequences.

I like your idea of having a spitzer in the chamber and flat nose or round nose rounds in the magazine. Loading in this fashion would prove useful to the fellow who hunts power-lines, burns, or logged areas. A 125 gr Sierra spitzer loaded between 2500 and 2600 fps would sure improve the ole .30/30's reach.

Sold my last one but have another on the way to me as I write this. Ruger No.1 Tropical .416 Rigby. Super short, step out with the lever open drop in a missle and launch. 350 TSXs at 2800ish. Shouldn't be much running involved.

My new truck/quad gun will be a short barreled (20-22'') Rem 700 in 35 whelen with a detachable mag, stainless barrel and synthetic stock.

Just in the process of putting all of the parts into a pile before it gets assembled.
