Subject: RE: Reducing Violent Crime
Dear Jhsfun,
Thank you for your e-mail concerning Reducing Violent Crime: A dialogue on handguns and assault weapons. We appreciate the time you have taken to share your views, and we have carefully reviewed your email. Violence and how to combat it is a complicated issue, and the input received will help guide our next steps.
Please rest assured, in all the Government’s efforts with respect to firearms, the intention is to take concrete steps to make our country less vulnerable to gun violence, while being fair to responsible, law-abiding firearms owners and businesses.
The Government has also heard from diverse stakeholders from across the country. These participants included subject-matter experts, business owners, sports shooters, representatives from women’s groups, victims’ groups, public health officials, and community leaders. We are also hearing from provinces, territories, municipalities, and Indigenous communities.
Input received though the engagement process will help identify gaps, challenges, and ideas to help inform future measures aimed at reducing violent crimes in Canada. A summary report of all of the engagement efforts will be made public in early 2019.
Thank you again for writing to us and for sharing your views.
Yours sincerely,
Reducing Violent Crime: A Dialogue on Handguns and Assault Weapons

Thank you for your note. And directing me to the article. It does not fall on deaf ears here, and I prefer the blunt approach.
