Trudeau's Gun Ban and Buy Back

That's what we call confirmation bias, if you see an opinion you don't agree with and check the join date and it's another new member, it sticks out. You probably don't check to see if a post you agree with was posted by someone who just joined.

although you are not wrong about confirmation bias i will add it is pattern recognition. whether or not is it confirming his bias it is still non the less happening with enough frequency to draw attention to it from multiple members. in the years i have been on gunnutz ive seen it happen several times, several new accounts spring up around an election or some other hot button topic of the moment, all seeming to say the exact same thing. no feedback score, low post count, little or no activity in non political threads, but big attitude problems. they eventually get banned just sprout up again a day later with a new file name and the same old story.

so confirmation bias perhaps, but it doesn't mean he is wrong.

Welcome to the forums, RK99.

One thing I notice, is that all the new guys are saying the same thing?

Glad you're here and appreciate the point of view. It just comes across a bit like a junkmail flyer the postal lady won't stop stuffing in my mailbox, is all I'm sayin.

Cheers! :).

I agree with him and I’ve been here a while. This is one of the best countries in the world. I don’t agree with banning guns but it’s an insult to the millions in this world that live in totalitarian and oppressive countries where their daughters can’t go to school or they are killed for their beliefs.

I've no doubt I'm guilty of at least that.

I can't think of a single time in my life, where thinking or talking out of anger, or going off half-cocked has ever made anything better, lol. Quite the opposite really.

Although, let's not discount the benefits of blowing off steam and getting some built up frustrations off our chests; especially in a place where there are others that might understand and be able to relate. Really, what better place than here?

Better than going home and punching the cat, eh?

Just watched Trudeau’s 30 minute Q&A. Guns weren’t mentioned once.

Given the fact that minority governments only last an average of 2 years I doubt he’ll have the time or funds to implement his proposed gun bans. Of course it’s not impossible.

We need to ensure he doesn’t get back into office next election. Should he be re-elected with a majority, that is when we are in big trouble.

Western alienation is his biggest problem now. If AB threatens to leave, same with SK. They cant afford to pay for health care nor the salaries of all the rcmp officers. There wont be buyback or enforcements.

If this buy back does come to fruition, they better be buying back all “assault weapon” specific accessories as well. What are we supposed to do with mags, optics, etc that are fairly specific to these types of firearms. Not much you can do with Elcan Specter DR’s that are tailored to AR platform ballistic specs... I have 4 of such scopes alone! KAC SR25 5/20 mags at $150 a pop...again I have many.....these don’t fit anything else. Once the rifles are gone...the other stuff is pretty much useless and worthless. None of this stuff can be sold into US market either due to ITAR....

just imagine, its Christmas eve and some fat guy dressed in a tacky red suit tries to break in and steal your death star lego set, BAM! elcan specter through the chest! happy kwanzaa...

maybe you're walking your cat, or..cats, and a crazed rapist tries to sneak up on you...not today rapey davey! BOOM! face full of kac sr-25 mags, hows that for a cold shower?

say the neighbour is eyeballing your Schwinn Western Flye, well take this for a ride Francis Buxton, KURPLOW! geissele rail up the playhouse!

That was a GOOD read!

That's not what I said at all. Try working on your reading comprehension. What I said is that's what *I* am able to do and what *I* and prepared to do. It's the form of lawful, peaceful opposition to this measure that I am preparing for. You all can do the same, within your own budgets and means. We have legal Avenues to pursue, and we all need to pursue them, whether it's earmarking 5 figures for the fight, or donating $100 to the ccfr. I'm sorry, but if you have thousands of dollars invested in your gun collection, you can easily come up with thousands of dollars to invest in the preservation of it.

What I also said is that none of you armchair Warriors are going to do jack schitt when faced with jail time or other similar consequences. Because most of you have families, you all have careers, you all have the freedom of Mobility to travel to the US or other places, you all have every creature Comfort inside and outside your home, and you're not going to jeopardize any of that. Prove me wrong.

So stop stomping your feet like petulant 2 year olds and focus on measures which are actually achievable and which, in the worst-case scenario, won't end up with you bankrupt, in prison, or dead. I get that you're angry. I'm angry too. But at the end of the day, we are not talking about a situation in which are fundamental freedoms are being Stripped Away. Our arguable right firearm ownership is being challenged. We have the right, and the means, to fight back against this campaign. But be smart about it.

Or, if you want the Cole's notes version, just grow up and use your brains. For starters, considering the fact that this is probably Canada's largest gun forum, it might behoove us to stop enabling people who post truly insane onfoears nonsense about globalist conspiracies, MK Ultra, and the UN putting microchips under our skin. You know that there are millions of Canadians who think all gun owners are completely bat####, right? Stop saying bat#### things, and they may stop thinking we are bat####.

NPR is reporting that Trudeau refuses to work in a coalition, and wants to proceed as a minority government. That's typical of a narcissist like him. His playground, his rules, or at least that's what he still believes.

In my opinion, he has at the most two years left in power. And most of that time is going to be in fighting with the NDP and the block, and, almost certainly, more internal scandals and other skeletons coming out of the closet. I think our strategy should be to complicate and delay this confiscation process as long as possible. Make them pay for every inch of this battlefield. And, if we can, make it last longer than this government's term.

BS. Gangbanger got off recently shooting guys with an illegal gun -- judge ruled self defense.

BS. You're mouthing the Demonrat/anti line. READ THE FRAKKING DECISION BEFORE YOU POST BS.

The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1791, refers to the National Guard, which was created by an act of Congress in 1903.

The National Guard, funded by the federal government, occupying property leased to the federal government, using weapons owned by the federal government, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a state militia.

Or better, read this: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=40%20reasons%20to%20support%20gun%20control

Amendments ARE parts of The Constitution. Frak me if you're not an anti you're doing a good job of spouting their BS. Or perhaps you're merely clueless.

OK, we're agreed here.

Somebody grasps reality.

Why are you even arguing this? This is not the United States. American laws, and even American rights do not apply to us. The right to bear arms is not god-given, and that is fundamentally true because there is no God. Rights aren't given anyway. Rights are earned. For whatever reason, our forefathers never thought to earn that right, so there is nothing in any legislation that protects it. Do we have a chance of making it a right today? No oh, probably not. View gun ownership in Canada for what it is; a privilege. Come from that angle with your defense, and you may be able to retain that privilege. Make hyperbolic and irrational statements about your right to owning Firearms being given to you by God, and you'll probably end up in a rubber room somewhere. For the same reason that we don't have school shootings every other week, we are not the United States. Everything is different here. Stop using the United States as the framework for your argument.

MYbe if I cover my firearms in marijuana, they’ll be safe as Trudy likes weed. Canada will be safer when we lock criminals up, give life sentences for firearms in crimes, make shooting someone attempted murder mandatory instead of aggravated assault. Equal sentence for all ethnicities.

Well said in your various comments. Thanks for being a voice of reason and moderation.

Mohawks stood their ground with firearms, remember?

Did you see them giving up their firearms?

Don't be such a pussy, stand up for yourselves and your property.

Then call CTV news tomorrow and meet them at your local rcmp detachment with your loaded AR and tell the Mounties and Trudeau what they can do with their gun control. Don’t be a pussy!
