Trunk Gun

I have a cooey single shot 12 gauge which cut the barrel down to 19", that spends its time in the trunk when around with the car. As far as rust, im not concerned since I got it for 80 bucks and its no loss if it gets to the point of no return rust wise.

Check your provincial game regs also.
In N.S. all you can have year round is a shotgun with #4 buck or smaller shot.

Are you saying that in Nova Scotia it is not legal to shoot non-restricted firearms on crown land? .22s or hunting rifles for example?

If it is, how can your statement be accurate.

If it is not, can you point me in the direction of the FA, CCC, or Nova Scotia's Wildlife Act or F&G Regulations where this is detailed?

in NB it is for sure, but its rarely enforced and only carries a 50 dollar fine if they actually check you. ive never met or known anyone who has been charged.

from the NB Fish and Game Act

41Every person commits an offence who, not being the holder of a proper licence and not being a conservation officer exercising his authority under this Act, takes, carries or has in his possession in or upon a resort of wildlife a firearm during the open season for hunting.

Just don't hack it below 18"
From what I understand, the OAL can't be altered to below 26" either.
rifles and shotguns that have been altered by sawing or other means so that their barrel length is less than 457 mm (about 18 inches) or their overall length is less than 660 mm (about 26 inches);

@gallen270: I scanned through the Act, and found definitions for Wildlife Refuge and Wildlife Management Areas, but WTH is a "resort of wildlife"?

If it refers to all land where wildlife may be present, I suspect that portion of the Act wouldn't stand up to a court challenge.

musta passed over it in the deffinition section.

“resort of wildlife” means any waters or lands, including highways or roads, that are frequented by wildlife;

now thats what gets me. essentially ANYWHERE could be a resort of wildlife. me and thedutchess live right in town, ive seen muskrats and lots of raccoons. about two years ago, i seen a doe walking right on the street at about 5am. so even living in the city, id regard it as a resort of wildlife.

while its on the books, according to DNR people are rarely charged with it. i've never heard of anyone getting charged under those sections although they do try to discourage target shooting in the woods.

also, how often does DNR search your car? around here, even during the big game season, you rarely run into them.

of course, its best just to follow the law, lets not forget theres a whopping 50 dollar fine that goes along with violating that section of the act.

single shot 12g trunk gun!

I wish I never found this thread, i didn't think I needed another shotgun until now :( :D

I have no idea of your gun laws. So I'll just jump in head first. The MN carbines are the trunk/behind the seat/ under the seat guns of choice in my area. They are( or at least were) cheap to buy, cheap to shoot, and damn near indestructible. Just my2 cents.
