Truro Gun Show - who's going?

I'm in the market for a No.1 mk III or a No.4 mk I, so I hope there will be some milsurps priced ok there!

I'm betting there will be some good milsurp there. Alma had an impressive selection of rifles in the spring and I thought the prices were good on a lot of it. I would think a lot of the same guys will be there...hopefully with some new stuff to pick through.

Well, I made the trip but was pretty disappointed - was more like a yard sale than anything else. Mind you - it would have been great for anyone into antique items but the majority was flea market type stuff. Pretty small venue as well couldn't even get down the little isles. Went to the one in Sussex NB a couple of weeks back and it was much more than this. Hopefully Waverley will be better in a couple of weeks.

I was a little disappointed too; I was expecting the type of stuff and a small venue, but I was surprised with the prices.

I saw a fair amount of milsurps rifles. Some were priced well, but others were crazy. I wanted an SMLE but couldn't find a good one for a fair dollar. I saw a Garand that buddy wanted $1600 for and a SVT-40 that was in good condition but was $625.

Having said that, I saw a nice Polish m44 and a Swede M38 that were both priced nicely...but I passed. I bought some ammo, some cleaning patches, and a nice sauer shooting jacket for target shooting. Got a nice deal on it.

Setting up my tables on Friday evening at the Truro Gun show I heard of this sale.
One guy laid his collection out and sold it all to one guy.
It was pre-arranged sale to one guy, and if the buyer didn't take the collection this is what he wanted for just a few of them.
All were in great condition.
Examples of some of the 20+ guns
Daish Madson 30-06 with bayonet for VG to Exc $450.
Swede 96 $250
Lee Straight Pull (Possibly Navy) rifle $1200
FR-7 $175
Brazilian 1908 with matching bayonet for $850
Brazilian M968 $250
Erfurt 1917 Kar 98 $450
Czechoslovakian K98 $240

Found a few LE No.4 bits, mag , sling, hood sight and unissued c broad arrow beech butt.....$10 for that!
Lots of over priced bubba'd LE's , pitted and chopped, nice $300 M44 that I passed on.
Absolutely no room to move In between tables, dissappointed in the quality of milsurps.

I saw that same M44. Thought about it but I'm still needing more shingles to finish my roof. : )

I saw a whole collection of LE butt stocks for sale. There were indeed tons of sportered LE's for sale...most had seen the hacksaw of bubba. Others were nice factory done sporters that were altered beyond restoration. Big prices on them...closer to $200 for rough ones that should have been $100.

I was also disapointed, and I really hope the waverly gun show in 2 weeks is MUCH better. I was looking for a decently priced smle but the only one there was waaaay too over priced and another No 4 was too much for me. I did end up buying some old Cdn surplus 7.62 for my m-14 and some cleaning patches.
I also went back the second day to see if anyone had dropped their prices a bit to sell but, nope. And boy was day 2 a massive let down if you thought saterday was bad.
Hopefully next year and waverly is better :)
