Trust Ruger again?

I just bought a Compact in 7-08 and I love it. It's everything it was supposed to be and has an excellent out of the box trigger, which I really didn't expect.

Maybe check on some of the Varmint forums in the USA, a lot more fellows down south supporting Uncle Sam then up here. FS
 
Beretta: I thought that because they were different calibers that results may vary. I am always willing to give a company a chance, Ruger isn't a new company right... That being said the last Ruger Firearm I bought was a handgun (Single Six) and it works and shoots pretty well.
 
I was reluctant to buy a 223 Ruger M77 Mark II based on some of the posts I'd read on the internet, yet I knew my Uncle had a Ruger bolt action rifle in the same calibre (although much older) and was very happy with it. I took a chance and bought it and have had no problems whatsoever. If I'm not mistaken, Ruger now makes their own barrels, and the barrel problem were a thing of the past.

I happen to like Rugers ! Especially the No. 1's ....
 
I was looking at a micro hunter and called WSS but none to be had (backordered) so unless somebody knows where I can find one I am SOL. I was looking at an Anschutz that Prophet River sells but man that is pretty pricey (2200+ bones) I don't mind paying for quality but that is a little pricey for a walkaround coyote rifle.
 
I have 4 rugers, the newest being 2006 and the oldest being early mk II. (89 ish?)

I have also owned several of the original 77 variation, and haven't had any real accuracy issues to complain about. Sounds to me like you have had some bum luck, or i have had good luck.
 
I own a 77/17 blued with walnut, love that little gun. Light, super slick quick action, 9 round clip, feeds/fires/extracts/ejects 100% reliably. The trigger will not win any awards out of the box, but any gunsmith can easily lighten it up with a crisp break. No complaints from me on accuracy.
It's the gun I grab when I am plinking or "taking the dogs for a run". With a Leupold VX-1 on top, it is beautiful.
Definitely one of my favourite guns.
They are pricey right now new, see if you can buy used or get a deal.
 
I've actually sold and traded most of my Brownings, Remingtons, and Savages to buy either Rugers or Winchesters....I absolutely love Rugers. I have 4 of them that are tack drivers...try one of the new Hawkeyes...they are nice and shoot great
 
I used to love Ruger warranty repair but after waiting in excess of a year for my last rifle to be turned around, not happy. That said, I now have a sweet little Ruger stainless compact M77 though that is largely from the fact that Ruger's competitors dont have much similar....
 
I have several as well, and you must have bad luck! most M77s one hawkeye and a #1

I feel they are one of the strongest actions going on the market.

Never had an issue, sure accuracy can be a challenge but I will stand behind a ruger at anytime. When you yank back on that bolt the case is coming out..
 
I've owned the same 10/22 for 10 years now. My personal best for tortoure testing was approximatly 675 rounds in one sitting, the final rounds still shot 1" at 50 meters.
 
I have a 10/22 and can literally shoot the center out of a target at 25 and 50 yards. I can shoot it accurately up to 100 yards.....at least, accurately enough to kill gophers.

A good friend of mine has two Mark II bull barrels and those are bang on dead shots as well. In fact, my little brother the cop came up to visit with his Glock and we all headed out to the range together. At one point he picked up a bull barrel and proceeded to hit 10 for 10 at 50 yards on an 8 inch dinger target and he had never fired that particular handgun before....ever.

When I hear someone go off like the OP in this thread, especially about 3 or 4 different rifles from the same manufacturer, and oddly enough, the exact same issue with all of them........well........I figure the problem is the user, not the firearm.

I don't mean to be rude or insulting, but simply put everybody I know who owns a ruger is happy with it's accuracy.

Well let me simplfy what I meant. There are thousands more varmint shooters in the USA, chances are better that you will find several individuals that have purchased the exact rifle you are looking for information on. comprende?
