Try this in Toronto

In Charlottetown the city gov has spent untold thousands on crows in the park. I think they could take something from this vid. I don't think I'm that good of a shot but for city works pay I will get on to it.

Three thoughts, all with the theme "Attitude is Everything":

1. Air guns can do damage, so please let's promote responsible use in urban areas. Quite a few years ago, I witnessed two idiots taking potshots with a Brno .177 from an adjacent 10th floor apartment, at a neighbouring one-story-bungalo's metal chimney- i.e. shooting downwards, with kids playing down below in the back-yard. I spent no time speculating on their marksmanship or ballistic competencies. I realized what damage could ensue (physical, emotional, not to mention 'political'), and I had no qualms calling RCMP. I felt a visceral personal satisfaction when I overheard the cops busting down the door and "man-handling" those jerks. But I wish that I'd phoned my friends at the local newspaper and filled them in. We who honestly pursue the shooting sports must ensure that we are the good guys - responsible, but not wimpy or apologetic.

2. Air guns - the right ones - can be super accurate, and fun! I believe that they are a key factor to (re-)introduce youngsters to guns in our currently anti-gun society - especially jurisdictions like where I now dwell (QC). There's no point in trying to argue with aging antigunners (they'll be soon gone, and happily, they have fewer kids!) .... Let's raise a new generation of kids who confidently and safely enjoy the shooting sports. There's actually lots of opportunity for young people to develop great marksmanship with an airgun, since one can legally and safely discharge them in times and places otherwise closed to firearms. But check the bylaws, and be safe!

3. A good air gun can be got without PAL, so it's a chance to 'acquire' firearm competence without getting enmeshed in the accursed system.

When I was a kid living in Pickering Ontario I used to blast those loud feather bastards with my Beeman. Okay I only ever got one crow. I hit him under the eye and knocked him off a telephone post across the street. Weird thing was for the next ten minutes every crow in the neighborhood circled overhead "Cawwing" like mad. It was ####ing weird...

I also shot other birds, squirrels, and basically anything that moved :D (Though squirrels wouldn't die from a low power .177 like that. They would just get big gray spots on them).

We use our .177 air rifles to shoot crows, starlings, squirrels, chipmunks etc.. from our front porch in town. Cyclone is right though, crows are rather smart. They get wise to us after we kill a few and avoid the area for awhile but we're ready for them when they come back. :D
