trying a 1/3 lower co-witness setup

I have the same set up on one of my ARs with the fixed front sights but I use an absolute co-witnessed.

What is the advantage vs. disadvantage of a 1/3 co-witness when the field of view still goes through the optic glass?
I always assumed the 1/3 would look through the riser.
Thanks!

Lower 1/3 just gives you less obstructed view when you have a fixed front sight but it is not as natural to co-witness. If you are only using the iron sights as a backup if your optic fails it doesn't really matter as you can still align the sights through the optic. But if you like the dot to line up with the front sight every time you shoot than absolute co-witness is easier to use. Of course, all this info is in the link the OP provided.

Personally, I prefer the lower 1/3 if I have a fixed front sight and absolute if I don't as it sits a little lower.

I like lower 1/3 better. Found the front sight distracting with a red dot when absolute co witnessed. No issue with magnifyed optics though.

Absolute co-witness also invokes a parallax conundrum, in other words, always trying to get that dot to sit right on the front sight post. Perfect cheek weld is the consequence and in CQB drills, that doesn't always happen which means your first shot time is longer. Lower 1/3 as mentioned is less cluttered, doesn't have any parallax issues and first shot time from acquired is faster.
