Went out to the range yesterday to try out the custom 375 H&H I received from my son in law. What a gift!:D Anyway, I met up with 303carbine and had a good afternoon 'shaking' loose a few cobwebs. We tried some preliminary handloads of mine, cast & jacketed. In addition, we 'pounded' a few through his .338 wm Ruger SS as well. While the toys were 'cooling down' we had a good BS session on handloads. It's obvious I have to do less shooting off of the bench & more practice standing on my hind legs.:rolleyes: Had a good afternoon though, I can tell by the slight purple tinge my shoulder has. 'Till next time guy.....:)
 
They are quite a bit of fun, aren't they? I put a Deccelerator pad on mine, and I use a recoil shield; it takes about 15 shots before I begin to feel any pain. It took me a bit to get used to the recoil, but my groups are now tightening up; they were all over the place due to the gun bouncing around.
 
Our we just supposed to imagine what your custom 375 H&H looks like or are going to give us a picture or at least some details!:rolleyes: :p
 
375's are a lot of fun. The recoil isn't as 'sharp' as a lot of other calibers, and I can shoot the 375 a lot longer.

A Pachmayr or Limbsaver goes a LONG ways towards shooter comfort. Combined with a cheap cast bullet, and slightly reduced load, you have a nice medium-bore plinker, or gopher killer :D
 
.375 and .338 range time

I had a lot of fun and that .375 is a very nice looking rifle and it shoots pretty damn good too. :) Your going to have to take a few pics and post for them for the masses. The wood on the .375 is very nice and it probably won't see alot of rainy day shooting for fear of wrecking a nice piece of wood.:eek: Next time out we will probably bring the 45-70's and make some gravel. I'd love to post a picture, however, I'll have to go with a description for the time being. With my skills or lack thereof,:confused: I haven't yet figured out how to post a pic on one of these threads. I've tried but perhaps I'll have to get someone to walk me through 'hands on'.:redface:
In the meantime, it was custom made by a shop around Calgary & I should remember the name but I don't right off hand. The action is a L61R Sako, with a Shillan (spelling) 24" heavy barrel, good trigger, very nicely figured (75% fiddleback) deep redish brown wood with fineline checkering, fully bedded and topped with a Leupold 2.5x8 XVIII 30mm scope. The barrel profile, open sights and ring with sling attachment hole looks very much like a Ruger Tropical. It is 'pretty.' :D Just weighed it on the bathroom scales, 10.25 lbs.
Again, wish I could send a pic but................When I figure out how.
It was a 'gift' from the son in law. I mentioned to the wife, "We should've had more daughters." Point of interest, the daughter has turned into quite a hunter and has had an article about her Mulie Buck published in Big Buck magazine. The son in law's obviously quite a teacher as well. Thats the best I can do for the time being guys.:)

Thanks for the offer SuperCub. I appreciate that. That's another 'thing' I have to work on, the digital camera thing.:redface: Anyday now. Anyway, I took a couple of quick photos that I'll scan & send to you soon as they're developed. Hope you'll be able to do something with them.:)
