Hey all anyone have tips for being more accurate at the range in trying to get my hunting rifle Winchester mod70 3006 using rem corlot shells lately I'm having trouble getting good groupings with it I've read some articles and some videos helped a bet but can do better so any tips or links to things would be nice thank you. Next on the list I want to do distance shooting 300-1000 yards ish what's good gun and caliber to uses for that 308 work ?

The National Shooting Sports Foundation videos on youtube helped me a ton when I started out. After you get the fundamentals down, it's all about trigger time. Dry fire practice can help just as much, practice those fundamentals, find something in your yard to focus the crosshair on and make sure your reticle doesn't move when you squeeze the trigger.

A 30-06 is more than capable of shooting 1000 yards but it is a lot of gun for most people to learn to shoot accurately because of the kick.. Dry fire practice can help with that a bit. If you're looking into a new rifle, anything with a 308 parent case is going to work (ie. 243, 260, 7-08, 308..)

You also might want to get a Kestrel 5000 ballistics computer. They are a bit pricey however they take into account all environmental factors including coriolis effect, to give you an effective firing solution. There are also apps for purchase that can be downloaded to your android smart phone that apparently are quite accurate. However the android application in your smart phone may not give you wind speed, wind direction, humidity, barometric pressure at your particular location. The Kestrel does all of this.
I might also add that it would be extremely helpful to become an accomplished re loader if you are not already doing so. Every rifle has a particular. powder, load, and bullet that it likes and will disdain all others. Hand loads can be loaded with great precision, far more than any purchased ready made ammunition . Good luck and be safe.
