Trying to find a 40x Rimfire __HAPPY UPDATE

Eye Candy it is!! Love the rimfires! Here's my 40X.

Here's a 200M 5-shot group shot with the 40X above on a beautiful, quiet morning. I shot several groups under 1" at 200 that day.

My Suhl 150. :)

The one I picked up was from Horseman on here and he probably regrets selling it. I ve been shooting it benchrest against several Anchutzs in benchrest stock and tuners as well as a couple of custom action rifles and it holds it own.

I have an older one set up for benchrest with a lovely old Redfield with fine crosshairs and massive heavy stock. I got it from a guy on here that I have dealt with a few times. Another good guy who knows rimfire.

And, of course, I only shot it to sight it in, and it is deadly with a custom trigger that is hair. At the time my father was in good health and he, of course, shot my butt of with it as usual. He was the old man with all the abilities while I am just a useless little crapper. I have not shot it since even though it has been in my possession for a few years now. Am I leaving a certain impression here........................

So.... I am happy to report my search is over! I found my unicorn..... a 1955 40X 22LR. single shot HB! I am extremely excited, should be here in a week or so. Pics look great and the serial number is said to be a '55, but once I have all the markings I will be able to confirm for myself. As an added little goodie, I found a Redfield 3-9 TV Tombstone Accurange with the target elevation turret to sit up top!!! Should be here in 10-14 days as well! to say the least I am stoked beyond belief to get this into my hands. The only argument left for myself is to put a 20moa base and zee rings on it or go straight to traditional and complete the era correct rifle... I am leaning to the latter!

Congratulations!!! I lucked into a 40XB from 1968 off of here 2 weeks ago. It's an amazing shooter, if I find the right external adjustment scope, I'll snap it up, for now I have a Leupold on it.

It was posted just after noon, and I never saw it till 9:30 that night. With 250 views, I thought for sure it was gone. I called him up, asked a few questions then I said I'd take it. He then informed me that there was a 24 hour hold on it from someone ahead of me. I couldn't sleep, called him the next day for an update and was told that 6pm was when the other guy had till. I heard back at about 9pm that night that the other guys wife wouldn't let him get it, so the rifle was mine!!!!!! I really want to send that woman flowers. I think he said he had 23 people inquire about it, I was the second "I'll take it!".

The rifle is damn near mint, fantastic shooter. It's taken the place as my most coveted rifle in my collection.

I missed out on a 10/22 magnum for $650 and a NIB LH Savage bolt action .22 smooth bore in the EE recently, but this more than made up for it.

Steve, what are you thinking for optics?

I put a Talley 700SA 20moa rail on it, fit perfect. I just borrowed a Leupold 6.5-20 EFR off one of my inferior Anschutz rifles for the time being. I wanted to go classic Unertl style, if I eventually find the right scope some day I will. It's a big rifle, the stock is fat, and the barrel is long, so it will look good with a 30mm tubed scope on it. I haven't decided yet on its final optic. I like variables like this Leupold, but I can get S&B scopes for a good price :p
