Hi all,
it may look a little silly...but being in the market to buy a simple air rifle, i'm trying not to buy chinese. Not that easy to actually make a list!
So if any of you people can help i'd appreciate it. Just trying to find a simple rifle to keep ''critters'' away from the bird feeder, that i can buy locally. I read GAMO rifles were made in Spain, that's a start!

Thanks,

Eric

I believe air arms are made in the uk. Hatsan are made in turkey.

Now the issue would be where are the parts made, as made in x country could just mean assembled in that country.

I also think all Umarex are made in Germany. Older models from Baikal too...(Not sure they still make them)
Gamo is from Spain...all in all making a list is easier than i tought!
Yes, the goal is NOT to buy chinese when it's possible!

FX is from Sweden
Air Arms from the UK
Steyr from Austria
Weihrauch (HW) are still been made in Germany I believe
Baikal is from Russia, so is Ataman and so is Edgun

Not much available in Qc as far as nicer airguns... Airgun Source Canada/D&L Airgun/Airgun & Archery Fun are all nice folks to deal with.

Just to trow a little sand in the decision process... Not-made-in-China doesn't necessarily means better quality... and China doesn't just produce junk.
- Artemis is Chinese, and well liked

I liked my Artemis PP700SA, but the barrel wasn't the best. Worst crown I ever seen.. Looked like it was done with a hammer and a screw driver. And both has some sort of defect in their blanks.

I like German Diana airguns, but beware; some Diana's are now from China and some current guns that are still made in Germany have been made cheaper with plastic sights, trigger guards and safety for instance.

I think the new PCP Chasers are from China. The box of my Diana 24C says made in Germany. The blueing is excellent, but the end cap, safety, and trigger are all plastic. I'm not sure if the newer Diana 240s that replaced them are made in Germany or Turkey or China.
The impression I get from the Chinese air guns is they tend to make them in large volume for big box retailers. If you'd expect to find at a Canadian Tire or Walmart, odds are good the OEM or many of the parts* come from a Chinese factory.

*The Crosman caveat

Looking at the Turkish airguns and shotguns that have been coming to market in the last few years, they seem to make them in smaller quantities (although who knows, maybe they're flooding the Euro/US markets and it's only the overflow that makes it here.)

I have two model 240 classic t05 pellet guns and the gun has printed made in Germany on it.
They still feel pretty ok but definitely inferior to the older 24 model. I guess the need for profit sacrificed the quality.

Yes the Chaser guns are made in China.

Whether it be clothing, electronics or airguns... Chinese factories will build to the standard requested, at a price point requested.

Air Arms are made entirely in the UK, as you can see on their two Youtube movies. They are NOT budget guns, of course, but they are incredibly GOOD guns in every respect. Many World Champion HFT shooters say so.
