TSE to launch a court challenge against the OIC - FILED

Donated, but I'm wondering why this didn't go out to TSE's email subscribers. I know more than a handful of fellow range members that don't frequent online venues such as this.

Understood. Once we get the submission ready, I'll put details down, but not until we are finalizing the filing.

I understand the need to maintain some degree of confidentiality, and I am supportive of that as a necessary step to success.

I would however like to see the arguments being advanced before donating, because I am interested in anyone challenging this on the basis of these regulations diminishing our right to self defense, and I can not in good conscience support any argument or applicant that concedes that any of these existing gun control measures have any legitimacy whatsoever.

Lastly, it would be nice, if there was some way to impugn the legitimacy of the original OICS which have existed for 20 years, as they are necessarily vulnerable to virtually all of the same arguments that would be valid in challenging the current OIC.

I would seriously give you $1,000 right now if you told me you were challenging the entire premise of classification by OIC.

I am sure this post will be drowned out among others. First I am against the ban, even tho I personally have no need for semi-autos.

The point is that it was executed in the WRONG way.

I also encourage anyone with anti-gun friends. That you explain how this literally will not change anything. There are still numerous firearms with the exact same capability available.....This is a waste of money and time.

True efforts that make sense would be

1) re-writing our current laws so they make actual sense. Don't just add more of the same laws that don't do anything
2) Talk about firearms based on capability NOT what they look like or what they are called.

If you can explain to an anti-gunner how that makes more sense it also helps them see how this political run around is ridiculous, and how they are being misled. Not to mention hunting firearms and tactical have the same capabilities....one just looks cooler.

any way I will be donating. I feel for small business these days, esp in western Canada where we are just getting stomped due to economics and political decisions.

Good luck gents

... Also, a civil court challenge may not make it in time to stop the OIC going "live" in 2-years...

Likely the first step for at least one of these court challenges is to seek an interlocutory injunction barring the government from acting until the case(s) go before a court. The government's own tactic of introducing a two-year amnesty is a clear indication that they don't believe there is a clear and present danger in allowing owners to keep these firearms for an extended period of time.

Make sure your safe has a good humidifier......

I can get behind this because a court challenge needed someone to be the "front" for this cause. JR sadly is in for a world of pain in the form of black pr and disinformation attacks the closer he gets to his court date. Also, a civil court challenge may not make it in time to stop the OIC going "live" in 2-years. There is a known "back log" of court cases when the Canadian Judicial System reopens and I can see the case being deemed "not essential" unless the public is made aware of the severe implications to personal freedoms and equality testing under Canadian law and UN human rights charters.

The best hope JR's case has is if all self identifying Canadian liberty groups call out his case during their media airtime, this will direct donors to this case via passive fundraising. A good example of passive self references was the viral "Alberta Proud" and "I love Canada Energy" projects. I'm certain some people close to the UCP can help JR map out what he needs to do in order for this to go from a case and become a viral movement.

I would also advise The Shooting Edge to carefully screen customers, "secret shoppers" and new clients starting next week. Blame it on COVID and the uncertain economy. It would be very easy to discredit the case by linking a customer to a scandal or public disturbance. This would also be the easiest way to nuke the whole movement and paint us all as "neo nazi's".

Yup... It's already started. But I spoke at length with my team here before embarking on this. Sadly, someone has to be the proverbial "sacrificial lamb" and I was not hearing about any others to get behind that were not "nameless" firearms organizations. I for one am supporting all three org challenges (CCFR, CSSA and the NFA).

Some other businesses have already stepped up and donated as well. Of note is Tactical Ordinance, SFRC and Wild West. It's nice to not be in this alone.

Donated. 9 Hours in and $35,499 raised of $50,000 target

We are only at about $30k as someone made a booboo and unknowingly donated $10k when he meant to donate $1k

But this is awesome. My lawyers will be a lot happier knowing they will actually get paid as the retainer was all I really could initially afford.... But to be clear, these lawyers are also gunnies, with skin in the game.

Donated! JR has gained my respect again! Even after the whole Swiss Arms fiasco. I will support his organization. Great move for the community.

Thank you. That truly means a lot. I have regretted my part in the Swiss Arms fiasco for years. Your personal forgiveness means a ton.
