TSS - Tungsten Super Shot

I hoped I won't be considered presumptuous if I offered some non internet based actual hands on advice. That is my word for today presumptuous :)

You will do fine with one shotgun and no. 4 buck LEAD if you shoot enough paper with different chokes and get the best combo for you
Lets see I reload or have in lead over the years no. 2 ,B ,BB ,#4, #1, 0, 00 and 000 for coyotes in 12ga 3 and 3 1/2 and 10ga. Also reload steel, bismuth and tungsten ( not TSS)
From what I seen in 10 and 12ga LEAD 4 buck by far is the best bang for the buck and does very well as far as pattern goes and reaches out there to kill coyotes dead. Too dead sometimes the way it rips them apart

Yes I have a ton of different choke tubes to try oh and yes did I say I own one shotgun sorry I own after the herd clean up still 86 shotguns so more than likely have his covered or close to it

Never said anything about anyone being incorrect I said as long as lead is allowed you are wasting your money killing coyotes with non tox shot
IMO Tss shot is for when you can no longer use lead like migratory bird hunting not banging coyotes .But hey we all have one
I was just trying to save the OP some money nothing more

8 pounds of Tss $234.00 , 8 pounds Lead 4 buck $59.00

Dead is Dead and no coyote is worth that cost of TSS ammo
If you got money to burn/waste fill your boots but don't expect to see more dead coyotes since LEAD kills
To each their own
Cheers

Couldnt agree more that dead is dead BUT I have to disagree on "no coyote is worth the cost of TSS" because if I miss or wound a coyote and it gets away on account of poor ammo I'm out the $140 that should be in the back of my truck. 3-4 years ago I wouldn't have even bothered with this question with poor coyote prices but now I'm able to turn a weekend hobby into a small cash crop if I work at it and use all my tools to there capacity. I have loaded many 4 buck shells with many hull/wad and choke combinations with only marginal success at extended ranges(over 40 yards). If I was content with 20-30 yard shots I wouldn't bother with anything else but in in the bald prairies there are not many shots under 30 yards but there are quite a few around 40-60 and TSS should be very lethal at this range with great patterns on account of the ability to use smaller pellets to achieve the same penetration. Shooting lead at ranges of 50 plus yards on coyotes is unethical in my experiences.
Maybe I'm being a little presumptuous but I'm sure that TSS is definitely worth the extra money, at least while the price a western heavy coyote is worth $140 plus.

Hey Stubblejumper,

Exactly, the price is what keeps me from jumping in with both feet. Im set up for loading 12g but my son who will be able to hunt the 2021 season is a small guy and I'm thinking id like to get him a 410 or 28g to start breaking clays and eventually use it for hunting. From my research TSS in 7's with a 410 will knock birds dead out of the air with at reasonable distances.
Sounds like I'm not the only one with an "interesting" experience with Bilozir! There are plenty of guys in the US who sell but seems like next to no options for us north of the border.
thanks for the input!
Q

If you're already reloading 12 why bother with sub gauges? Just load some soft shooting 3/4 loads and be done with it.

If you are shooting coyotes to make money from pelts I sure would not be using a shotgun of any type with any type of ammunition a nice 204 or 223 would be my choice. That being said if you cannot kill them over 40 yards with 4 buck you are sure doing something wrong and your yotes are babies compared to ours
I'm sorry but from your post I really question your reloading experience to get the results you say
In the end it is your money so fill your boots with the TSS on yotes but cannot see those pelts bring top dollars. I have had 4 buck lead make some serious holes in them and just full of blood

this 3/4oz loads should patter better from a 12ga vs something like .410 3" and with the 12ga being a heavier gun recoil will be light.

and to add to the TSS id think it would be a waste for coyotes id just get T or TT sized lead shot and use that or a .223 or even .243

He could do that but would have to play with chokes to get a good pattern. I have not done much reloading for 3/4 12ga since really we only had wads for it around 2014 when claybuster came out with one for 3/4 oz
You shoot it through a skeet choke and it is pretty sparse in a 12ga. Yes you will get great percentages if counted in a 30" circle but have holes I can toss a cat through
I found I would have to drop to IM to get a reasonable pattern. Easier for me just to shoot the 28ga
Many guys said at least claybuster made them pink for the (*^%&^ that will shoot them in a 12ga :)
Cheers

I haven't used tss yet but if you want better performance from #4 cast your own and make them hard. I can easily dump a yote at 50 to 60 yards with a full choke in my reloads in 2.75" shells. 24 pellets. I generally use factory 3" to get 41 pellets. Havent had a yote get away from me yet
Id like to try tss for waterfowl with #6. Or #7 shot but ill wait to see if the price comes down. I have enough steel shot to get me thru several seasons
