I just picked up an unissued polish tt33. I disassembled it and noticed light rusting on the inside of the slide, In the tight spots and on the inside of the frame. I tried
Wd-40 and a plastic brush. Managed to get rid of the rust that was accessible with the brush and my fingers. But the parts that my finger or brush dosent fit I can't get the rust out. I want to get rid of it before it causes more serious damage like pitting. The gun came dry, and wasn't covered in cosmoline. Any ideas on getting into those tight spots and any tips on what to use? Thanks!

Mine too. 1st one really bad and 3 or 4 hours of cleaning didn't get it off with cleaner and toothbrush and polish etc.

2nd one less rust, disassembled, sprayed and soaked, rubbed down and tight spots scrubbed with toothbrush - good to go.

Lots of oil and fine steelwool. Do not just use steel wool without the oil. It's the amount of rubbing with the wool and not the pressure or force you use that will help. Too much pressure could leave scratches.

I am not sure if this will be helpful... I restore vintage Coleman lanterns.... and a short soak in vinegar followed by a light toothbrushing removes rust no problem... I am not sure if vinegar will hurt blueing or not..vinegar kills rust dead....Oil will stop the breeding of rust... Like I said, not sure if it affects blueing...Never own a firearm with rust...
