I shot my TT-33 for the first time today!:dancingbanana:

I was wondering about a couple of pecularities.

1. When banging home a fresh mag with the slide back, unless you are gentle with the mag, it will release the slide and load a round automatically. Is this a special Soviet design to make dispatching Nazi's more more efficient... or something else?

2. I noticed twice that between rounds, the hammer would not stay back as the round was loaded, and had to be cocked back to fire the loaded round. This happened twice in 100 rounds. Anything with that?

TIA!

That's pretty normal for a lot of pistols. Basically when you slam that mag home, you are pushing the frame forward a tiny bit, so the slide lock disengages.

And yes, it was invented for killing NAZIs :D

As a follow up:

I took the hammer and sear out last night and both look in perfect condition. The sear is sharp, and the seat on the hammer is perfect.
When the hammer follows it sets on the half #### notch, as though it hasn't been pushed back far enough to set in the full #### position.

Anyways, I cleaned everything in detail, put a little more tension on the sear spring, and well see how she shoots next time.
