I am looking at getting a TT-33 russian or Norinco 1911 just for the range.... Does anyone have a pro vs con on the two... I have my mind set on TT-33 for price of ammo but I love the 1911 size and style... but not all the safeties on it. Thanks.

or a GSG 1911 .22

1911. Get it in 9mm if cost is an issue.

the TT33 is interesting piece of history, but the ammo is corrosive, hot and sometimes inconsistent. Also, parts are hard to come by as well. So hard to fix if something breaks and little to no aftermarket for customization.

1911 you have a great number of parts to replace broken parts, a huge aftermarket so you can customize it to your liking.

I had the TT-33 and the 1911. Sold the TT-33 a while ago.

I'll echo the above. The Polish unissued TT33 is especially hard on its firing pin, and that is not an easy part to find. I'm still looking for the proper length one. Can't comment on the Russian.

Unless you want to collect milsurp pistols just because you like them, go with a 1911 or other norinco handgun for a cheap range toy. My brother has their sig clone and its quite decent.

I have held both... I like both, one for cheep ammo 7.62 and other for mods 1911... I use my AR 10.5 99 % of the time at the range... Does anyone recommend a GSG 1911 .22 ?

I had the GSG 1911. Nothing wrong with it. Good gun, pretty accurate and most 1911 parts can work on it. Was not a fan of the metal they use though, and the finish wears and scratches super easy. If your looking to get a 22 hand gun I can recommend the Ruger MkIII, the norinco M93 and Ruger Single Six as nice shooters.
