Greetings all...I recently picked up a Tula made TT from a vendor here..She is dated 1935..all matching including the mags..I have noticed that she has the rear backstrap cut out like the TT30 ....Could this be a 30 and not a 33..??...

anything is possible with cold war milsurp, could be half and half from an arsenal rebuild....could be a 30 remarked as a 33.....

I have seen this one. Could be a second transitional variant of TT-30. I have to see the hammer assembly and sear. I have a vet bring back 4 digit serialed 1934 TT30 with early hammer assembly and full circle locking lugs on the barrel, thus making it a "second" transitional variant. In TT33 it's back strap was eliminated and trigger itself has the curve on top, simplifying removal process.

My apologies for hijacking this thread...When I get home I will post more detailed pics. Here is 1934. It is vet bring back, all matching as it can be even came with 2 matching mags and pre-1942 Soviet production ammo. There are may be some differences between TT30's, such as barrel locking lugs are semi-circled like 1911's(1932-33 production), trigger assembly slightly different, early 1934's known for skewed CCCP letters(mine is a good example, although the letters were scratched out by German, but still visible), lanyard loop relieve cut on left grip is very shallow, compare to others etc...Also certain technological stampings are unique to TT30's. Here is a link to markings. http://s102.photobucket.com/user/dimon_2006/library/1934 TT30 The big visual difference between TT30 and pre 1946 TT33 is the absence of the back strap in TT33 and upper part of trigger is round in TT33.

Thanks for the thread guys :) I just realized I have a 1935 tt-30, with the semi-circle lugs... bought it as a tt-33 with a corresponding price... (does a celebratory dance)
