TT33 problems

Just a couple minor problems on what is otherwise a great handgun:

1: On surplus ammo, it doesn't always fire on the first strike. I've attributed this to stiff primers
2: The mag release is tough to push and the mags don't fall free

Is there any way to fix either of these?

Quite common, from my experience. If you pull the hammer back gain, I have found it usually goes off. Ammo problem, not the gun. My mags also don't drop free.

I was wondering if there was a way to make the ammo go bang every time. Like putting in a new firing pin or something

Im thinking its the pistol, as opposed to the ammo. I have a couple, and cant recall this problem.

Wolff Springs has a TT spring kit. Worth getting.
It also includes a replacement mag release spring, which helps with easing mag removal.

For drop free mags I polished internal part of the trigger bow. Fit and try.

cold weather shooting? greasy firing pin and cold will do that.

I might still have a TT spring kit that I don't need.. Got out of Tokarevs.

My brother had troubles with the nickel tipped ammo not always going on the first time.

Neither of us had difficulties with the bimetallic copper tipped steel cased stuff.

I never got around to shooting the nickel stuff in my gun.

The mag release can be fixed by filing and replacing the spring with one softer or maybe cutting existing one a little. I have done two of them. They installed strong springs cause the gun had issue of mags dropping out. As far as light strikes.. check the gun that the firing pin is free of grease. And as well the firing pin can be cut or replaced as it is fairly hard.

it is the ammo that is the problem . polish the mag and where the mag slides up on the trigger bow mine falls out when i depress the mag release
