Tubb springs

He researches and test's all of the products he markets, I have several of his products they deliver what they advertise he does not sell garbage
 
Here's my take on springs - unless the ones in your gun are failing then you have no good reason to change them. Off all the things that can effect accuracy in the M14 platform the springs are one of the last things you can find any improvement in. A Kreiger barrel, bolt fitting, spring guide will all yield better results before changing a spring will.

Really you have that much more experience with the M14/M1A platform than David Tubb . Springs can and do make a difference how a rifle works how it ejects the brass and to what extent the brass is damaged during ejection
 
I'm with Savage on that one
Besides the stock flash hider and rear sight, the next parts from the chinese rifles I replace is spring guide (to a Sadlak or Tartan) and the spring to a wolfe or genuine usgi.

Anyone got comments on Wolfe vs Tubb springs?
 
I have a Norc that has a basic trigger job, chopped barrel, spring guide and everything else is factory and it shoots consistent 3/4" groups @ 100m. Although changing the spring isn't a bad thing I think in the majority of builds it should be low on the list of priorities. That said tuning norcs is like herding cats, one does one thing and another does something else. Like Laz says YMMV.

I never tried Wolfe springs, but I do use the Sadlak guide in all of my M14s.
The combination of the Tubbs spring and Sadlak guide makes for a smoother action.
 
Changing a hammer spring can noticeably change the feel of the trigger, for better or for worse. I bought a used M1A years ago. The hammer spring had been shortened a coil or two. The two stage pull was not there. The trigger pull did not feel safe to me. I installed a Tubbs chromium silicon alloy steel hammer spring. Now, it feels and works great. :dancingbanana:

I've installed chromium silicon alloy steel operating rod springs on some of my M1A rifles primarily for the extended service life.
 
I used Tubbs in my M1A and Norc M305.. Would put them in any other M1A in the future. They provide a finishing touch that you have to shoot to appreciate.
 
As far as changing springs go... And any other part of the rifle for that matter.... Shoot it first, use it, so you can decide if it needs upgrades.
Simply slapping in a new spring set is not a cureall for a Minute Of Barn door rifle.
As Different stated , it's about service life and quality.
I don't as a rule recommend swapping any other springs , just the recoil spring and in the odd case, the hammer spring.
 
I recommend swapping the op rod spring out as soon as you can.
My trigger springs were replaced as part of the MAX-PAK Trigger Upgrade I had SEI perform.
