I agree that the Browning SA is the best of the best, but I found that my typical shooting grip had hot empties going down into the cuff of my left hand from the bottom-eject when shooting. I'd try one before buying to see if it works for you.
Lever guns are the obvious choice for me here. They all seem to feed S, L and LR rimfire loads interchangeably.
And I don't think that anybody has mentioned the Remington Nylon series rifles? I've had a bunch, still have one; mine's in removable box mag style but the vast majority were tube fed with the magazine inside the stock...and they've been a favourite of mine for a half century.
