I am thinking of parting with my C3A1 clone [ to heavy for this old fart } and I have an interest in getting information on a tube gun built on the Remington 700 action. So here are a few questions as there is not much Canadian information on them.
1/ Do they make them in 308 ?

2/ who here in Canada has them for sale or the parts to do a home build ?

3/ what would be an an approximate cost?

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards

A photo of old #1

Finally got around to taking a decent photo of Funnygun #1. Sorry that it doesn't show the forward end of the tube or bipod. This action is a 722 Remington. Early in its career it was a 22-250. The barrel is now a 6BR and the rifle is not for sale.

The aluminum parts were clear anodized in 1999 in a simple garage operation and the rifle still shines like it did when new.

Among the prototypes are a LA 700, SA700 and a Model 7. The latter will eject a fully loaded 6.5X.284 with ease.

Sounds like 001 has a deal 4 U.

Tubegun

Tim,

As far as I know, I created it. The whole idea started in 1984 when I built a sleeved and tubed 700 Remington for the Canadian Nationals at Connaught.
Nothing much happened with this rifle until I started using it for F-Class competition in the early 90's. That rifle became known as 'The Mongrel'. Believe me, the name was appropriate. This rifle was ugly!

In 1998-1999 I built the rifle in the photo for my 55th birthday. Everything was adjustable due to not knowing what might be usable. The rifle was used at Cedar Springs (near London, ON) and Connaught that year with good success. Later, CAD drawings were made from yet another proto and from that the MAK Tubegun was created. All with a few mods from MAK.

MAK Enterprises is your point of contact, and they can ship direct, I think. Find a Canadian gunsmith and go from there.

I don't know what your intentions are, but I sure don't consider the tubegun to be a hunting rifle unless you are after varmints. For that use, or for F-Class competition, the tubegun works quite well.

Is VBull's site not working? also I have emailed him but no answer's for a few days now is he away[holidays]
What are the average weights of the tube guns?
Can they be kept in the less than 13-14 lb. range and still have good accuracy out to 800 yds?
Does anyone in Canada sell the tube gun kit that will handle the 308 [everything less barrel, action and scope?
regards
