Never thought much of this part before but since they are so reasonably priced I decided to add it to my build. (Whats $7.00 when I drop $150 plus on a barrel?)
I doubt I would have noticed a difference just by shooting it by itself, but when I did my barrel length test I was shooting it side by side with a 10/22 that had the factory bolt stop pin. While the .22LR doesnt really have much by the way of recoil the synthetic buffer tube makes it feel less sharp.
Not sure on the claims of extending the life of optics but it does make it more pleasant to shoot. Especially when doing a lot of shooting.
