Tulsa - the "World's Largest Gun Show"!

Grr... you guys are making me want to go in April. I wonder if my wife would tolerate that kind of activity on a surprise vacation to Tulsa...?

Andy,

What's the approximate cost of a trip down for the show? (ie: food, lodgings, travel from Rottawa, admission, etc. - but not including mad money whilst in the show ;) )

Might have to start budgeting for a little excursion...

Yes +1 Maybe I'll go too :)

Just FYI ::: most of the hotels will book very early if not already ... entry fee was 10.00 this year hotdogs 2.50and hamburgers 3.00 drinks pop 2.50 waters 2.00 and a variety of other things to eat ....they have food stands at each end of the building.. it has almost always taken atleast 5 hours to cover the floor once ...(if you dont stop and stare at very many tables). and once you see something usually if it was a good buy its gone when you return... or maybe its just my luck ??? they have everything from gunsafes ,,gun parts,, knives,, some high end jewlery (2 tables if i remember right) ,, oh i did c some electric helicopters for 60 bucks .. dang i should have gotten one of those ... some animal furs and there was also . GUNS of course ... i do encourage everyone to c it once.. there where about 50 thousand people the first day .. or atleast thats what the ticket lady said as i was heading out at 4:30 i got there at 8:30 that morning.. I walked all of it once and saw a quarter of it again before i had to head home .. long drive home ...

It is a great show. But, did you go North 50 miles to the largest private gun museum? I was there several years ago. They have a M60 tank among other big things. The gun museum is a donation of some collector that passed away. It is the size of a Wal Mart! I will try to locate someof my pics and propaganda. It is a well worth trip.

While in Paris, Les Invalides besides being a resting place for Napoleon, has one of th best Mil museums. It covers several floors. Did you know that Winchester and Colt supplied guns to the French after 1895?

I also had a private visit to the Beretta museum this summer. There were many Mil guns on display. What is amazing, the Germans never stole or touched it during the occupation. I will post a few pics during the week.

Best regards,
Henry;)

I used "free" Aeroplan points that cost me $150 to cover the taxes, otherwise it would have been (I'm guessing) about $1000 for airfare. Hotels are not too expensive, about $100/night, but the ones real close to the show are already booked. Admission is $10/day, and food (outside the show) is standard mid-size city USA costs.

A carload from Ottawa could do the drive in two hard days (24-28 hours total) each way - but count me out.

:dancingbanana: i have an idea .. every one going to the gun show in april should meet at the bottom of the ramp by the entrance .. at noon on saturday ... just to say hey ......:dancingbanana:

Traditional Rally point for Collectors is in front of the large Driller statue at noon on Saturday.

Miss the Great Western that used to be held in L.A. (until the PC crowd kicked it out) 7,000 tables!!!

Just don't have the money to go to Las Vegas where it moved to.

For that matter the Phoenix Arizona show is only 110 miles from here, but I just can't afford things with go fast switches any more.;)

I was at Shot show RSA 2 years ago and it is the biggest in Southern Hemisphere. Obviously smaller than US but it was held at Kayalami race-track where they had F1 races up to the early 80's so you can imagine how big this was. Seems like I never have enough $ when going to shot show.
Cheers

You suck!

I want to go, but due to my wife wanting to go and her not able to get a passport till her legal name change goes through, we won't make it THIS time. Definitely next though...
